A visit to a professional distillery
A really good experience and learnt so much about how their whisky is made. It gave a better appreciation of what whiskey is all about. They have a terrific facility and are rightly proud to show it off. Well worth an hour of your time to learn about whiskey in the area.

    Great place for lunch
Heavy rain and gale force winds at Cradle Mountain so we decided to head for the coast. We lived in Burnie back in the 70s and how it has changed. Probably the best of the changes is this excellent venue. Apart from the fact they make exceptional whisky the lunch in the restaurant was excellent. Good and very friendly service and first class food. The whisky panna cotta was truly memorable

    wonderful tour and lunch
signed up for the tour and tasting while our cruise ship was in town. You need to reserve/call a taxi when you decide to take the tour as it gets busy in town when ships come in. There is no real Uber so it has to be a taxi. Best presentation I've ever heard on the distilling process and the whiskey's were great. Had lunch and food was wonderful.

    Hellyers Dining Experience
We had a wonderful dining experience at Hellyers restaurant. We have been to Hellyers several times over the years when visiting Tasmania for whisky tasting only. We were so pleased we dined as the food was perfect. The sherry whisky cured ocean trout has heavenly, as was the whisky marinated chicken salad. Wouldn't mind the recipes!!! The menu is clearly very well thought out, we will certainly be back and will not hesitate to share our experience to ensure others stay on for lunch. Certainly was excellent value. We will be back, soon I hope.

Small Distillers who love this place
Fantastic customer service , interested and passionate about their workplace and the products. Amazing food paired with the ale and whisky. Have followed Hellyers road for many years and they are going from strength to strength, love the new packaging and exceptional whiskies now being released. The venue and restaurant are outstanding. We are in the industry also but at a very small scale so understand fully what Hellyers road is doing, Bravo!!

    HELL, YEH! 👍🏻
Amazing place! From the get go, these people know how to greet their customers. Nothing was too much trouble for this crew (we changed our tour to a day earlier.) The tour was wonderful, our guide was so passionate, an absolute delight! It’s a must do when in Northern Tassie. An Australian distillery that is making its mark in the Whiskey world. Staying for lunch is a MUST! Superb restaurant, great menu and quality Tassie food. And the view from the restaurant is breathtaking.

    A treat for whiskey lovers
We did the premium tour here and just happened to be the only two booked in at our session time, so effectively got a private tour with Emma (the guide). I am not a huge whiskey drinker, but even I enjoyed the tasting and learning more about the process. The staff clearly have a passion for what they do, and it shines through here. Tour included an intro to the distilling process, history of Hellyers, tasting, a look at the distillery and the cask storage, and the opportunity to buy and bottle your choice of two of the whiskeys you tasted. This was really cool and offers you a choice from two casks not available anywhere else. We opted for the married 7-year option which came with a certificate of authenticity and we got to wax seal the bottle. Well worth an hour or so of your time! There is a restaurant on site but we didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food.

Visited this spot after a recommendation from a work colleague. So glad we visited this spot. Amazing outlook, building is a great looking structure, fantastic service and then the tasting flights and restaurant food is superb. This visit is definitely a highlight of our trip. We had a full tasting flight which is accompanied by a cheese plate that works together so well. We then ordered from the restaurant for lunch. Usually we look at a menu and only 1 or 2 things might pop out. Not on this menu. So many choices - all a bit different to a standard menu. Highly recommend the warm chicken salad and marinated chicken burger. Delish.

Paid $19 for a tour of distillery. Was informative and had 2 tastings. Venue was very much like a small factory with no character. The maturing room was like a modern warehouse.
If you wanted tastings they were expensive. Restaurant food and view was best part of venue.

Had Lunch yesterday, for only the second time in Burnie had great food at a restaurant. My friend and I had virtually give up on good food in the NW but thankfully we decided to give Hellyers a try and we we really pleased we did. The flavours were delicate and well integrated, the Chef seemed to actually enjoy what he does and put great care into his food. Not cheap but worth it. We will be back.

We paid $17 pp for the distillery tour expecting tastings of products would be included. .vodkas, scotch and whisky cream. We were offered only one tasting of scotch. Very disappointed. To taste these was another $2 per taste on top of what we had already paid. I had made a booking for lunch also but left without eating such was my feeling of being ripped off.

We took the Whisky Walk with tastings at Hellyers Road Distillery. We were running a little late, so I called up to let them know and the tour guide was particularly helpful and understanding.

The tour itself was very interesting. It was information heavy about the history of the distillery and process of making whisky. Again, our guide was fabulous fielding heaps of very specific questions. She knew a lot which made for a very interesting tour. We were shown the factory floor and room where the whisky is kept. Although it would have been nice to be physically on the factory floor (rather than peering in), it was pretty cool anyway.

We were able to taste single malt and peat whisky, both incredible.
Hellyers Road Distillery has a stunning vista and offers lunch as well as tastings. Would recommend for a lazy afternoon. The tour was excellent value for money as well coming in just under $20AUD.

A tour of a whisky distillery, especially for whisky fans, is always a treat but my visit to Hellyers Road was no ordinary treat. It began with a tour of the distillery led by the distillery's Chief Distiller, Mark Littler who explained the complex process of distilling. Then there was the sampling of the various expressions. What a surprise to be confronted by single malt whiskies on a par with great Scottish malts. They were a real delight. We completed the tour in the distillery's restaurant noshing on local lamb soaked in peated whisky in a buttermilk-pastry pie followed by deserts made with cream and from the dairy next door. The distillery does and whisky-cream product which is sensational. Do yourself a favour and go to Burnie, Tasmania.
