Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have to admit I struggled to locate the parking for this on my GPS and found street parking instead and then walked to the gallery. Everything is set up for Covid - you sign in, sanitise and you are free to wander through. The gallery is not a big gallery but I found the artwork inside intriguing. Some of it I really enjoyed ... other pieces made me wonder how the artist thinks. THAT is what I love about art... the differences, the nuances, the uncertainty.

I arrived mid - afternoon and was warned that the gallery was inbetween exhibitions and it certainly felt fragmented
I was not sure if the ensembled ladders tables, tapes etc lying around might be a locally inspired take on a Tate gallery modern art work😀
The saving grace is the current artwork from school students; I always inspirational and the different mediums used are exciting.
There's a little souvenir shop that currently has a sale on
The amenities are good
Parking in on street

We went to visit the National Geographic top 50 photos. They were displayed so well with a little bit of history to each. Some had video associated too. What a great place to see such wonderful historic photography.

With a large number of mainland travelers in Tasmania, they should at least have clear website / phone message re opening hours. I particularly wanted to go to the Burnie Gallery to see their latest prizewinner, so carefully checked website and their answering machine to ensure they would be open on Tuesday 6th April - then drove 2 hours to find them closed (the website still said OPEN). Apparently the whole local government team took the extra day off. Fortunately the display of craft makers next door was still open.
Most disappointing, I have no time left in my brief stay in Tasmania to see the Gallery.

This is a small gallery with some Aboriginal pieces such as jewelry. All the artists are local and well known. The Aboriginal necklaces are beautiful and cleverly framed in deep wooden frames . There are a number of watercolours and oils painted by a local artist.

A wonderful exhibition and worth a visit. Entrance price was only $6 with RACT card and the lady at the front desk was lovely friendly and very informative. Fantastic exhibition and well worth the 3.5 hr trip to get there.

Came here for the National Geographic best 50 photos. The staff at the counter was most helpful and explain the exhibition. Not bad for $8

It took me about three hours to locate it. The local council next door does not believe in having signage for this particular facility-I was told later by a staff member that the council actually is removing signage whatever is left of it. The hours are not known as everyone wanted to make it clear: we are closing in 20 minutes! Contradictions galore!
They have a good collection of Australian printmakers and some important names. It is a pity that the local government is doing everything to keep it unvisited. The parking is extremely confusing-once you can actually get to it, that is. If this is the state of art in Tasmania, then good luck with the future- they will definitely need a miracle to get more visitors or interest in their facility.

The staff are always helpful and they have a broad range of knowledge about this gallery. The exhibitions change and my experience is there is always something wonderful to gaze at. This gallery has a lovely tranquility that I appreciate; it sometimes has me becoming lost in a daydream or lost in a piece of artwork. There is also a wonderful selection of cards (I adore beautiful and/or quirky blank cards) as well as an a selection of books on art. I love the B.R.A.G. t-shirts that the volunteers wear (I may even be a bit jealous!)

I found this to be quit boring. Maybe I was there at the wrong time. Luckily it is a free attraction or I would have wanted a refund. Basically one room with a few photos on the wall.
