We hired a couple of e Bikes from Rob on short notice, he could not have been more accommodating and professional. Our aim was to spend a day riding e bikes to see if they would suit out retirement travel plans. The bikes were great, easy to use and fun. Rob took the time to give us valuable advice that will guide our future purchases and was flexible with our return plans. Bruny is a great place to visit and Rob and his business can make any visit an adventure.... Steve & Adelle

We hired 3 e-Bikes from Rob for 3 days self guided cycling around Bruny Island. Rob is really nice guy, he met us in Kettering and was there when we returned - I can whole heartedly recommend Rob and Cycle Bruny Island, everything was smooth, the bikes are really good quality and were all setup for us when we arrived. As an avid road cyclist at home, I can recommend the e-bikes ... the island is surprisingly lumpy, but the e-bikes made it a pleasure to ride.

We ventured to Adventure Bay for the first night - there is a small shop that is well stocked for provisions, fresh meat and veg and groceries - no alcohol though, so you need to bring it in yourself. We bought a bottle of wine and some beer en route at the Bruny Island Cheese and Beer Company (although apparently you may be able to buy takeaways at the bowling club in Adventure Bay if it is open). We thought there was a seafood restaurant here but seems it closes at 3:00, at least it did on the day we were there.

Second day we took a hillier route through Mt Midway Forest Reserve via Lockleys and Stafford Rds to Cloudy Bay. Everything we could find on this route online suggested that it is very difficult and steep. It is actually not too bad, the first 5 kms are uphill and the whole track is bumpy for sure but anyone used to a little mountain biking would have no issue. We had to push the bikes for a couple of hundred meters on a particularly steep bit but any competent mountain biker could probably ride the whole way - especially on e-bikes! Take a phone with Google maps though as there are many forks and logging roads which can be confusing. But it is a beautiful part of Bruny with magnificent forest that changes throughout.

On the way back from Cloudy Bay, it is also worth dropping into the winery (Bruny Premium Wines I think it is called) - they also have an excellent range of ciders to taste and a first class cheese platter/ploughman's lunch (amongst other things I am sure). Further up the road, the Bruny Hotel also served the largest Chicken Parmigiana I have ever seen - no idea where the chicken came from but it was an excellent looking meal. It would seriously have fed all three of us - again not a bad spot to stop for refreshments!

All up a really great time - cycling is definitely the way to go to see the island - and you certainly wont go hungry ... or thirsty!

We rented two e-bikes from Rob to explore Bruny Island for one day. This really was the highlight of our entire holiday in Tasmania. There a very few cars on Bruny Island all of which have to access by ferry, so it is very safe to ride a bike on the side of the street while only a few vehicles will pass by every half an hour. We found that renting out bikes gives you so much more freedom to explore the island according to your own interests and at your own pace whereas the commercial tours will have set destinations (mostly shops and restaurants). One does need an e-bike to go about the island since the roads constantly go up and down so one would probably feel tremendously exhausted after a short period already when using a regular bike. The communication with Rob went smoothly, the bikes were set up and good to go when we arrived in Kettering and Rob expected us at the pier when we told him which return ferry we would catch in the late afternoon. We also got two chargers for the bikes and a small shop on the southern island fortunately allowed us to charge the bikes so everything went really well. We were provided with helmets and raincoats too. Rob is very dedicated and a very nice person. Overall, we were very happy with our booking and could not recommend the provider more, it was a fantastic experience.

We booked Rob’s ebikes as the island has quite a few hills and had a fantastic time. Rob advised us where to go for the best riding and even though we are usually road bikers we had no trouble adjusting to the mountain bikes and non sealed roads. The hills were a breeze and we r now converts to ebikes.
We stayed 2 nights and even managed to fit in the Penticott cruise and saw amazing sea life. Thanks so much Rob for all your support.

Our family hired 4 electric bikes for two days from Rob and had an amazing time exploring Bruny Island. Rob was very organised, super friendly and helpful and his bikes are well maintained and we are definitely electric bike converts! They were needed though because Bruny Island is very hilly and I think we would have turned straight back around without them. Everything Rob organised went well including accommodation, ferry and the wilderness tour from Adventure Bay. Definitely recommend!

Rob the owner of Cycle on Bruny is such a friendly and helpful guy. We had not been to Bruny Island before, but had done a lot of research and we theoretically knew there were a lot of hills! Well I was so thankful for my electric bike (even though my husband teased me). As you get off the ferry you are faced with your first challenge a 2km climb and the hills did not end there!! The bike does not do the work for you but it certainly helps. So I was able to ride and enjoy the scenery of beautiful Bruny Island.

Easy to book online. Bikes are in the perfect location for the ferry to Bruny Island. There is parking at the hire location. Rob is such a nice man, friendly and helpful. You can chose your ebike and your ready to go. Would recomend an ebike as there are some hills on the island and if you plan a long ride it’s much more confortable with an ebike.
The bikes are top of the range and were perfect for our ride. In 4 hours we covered about 40miles. On a bike you also get priority on the ferry. Absolutely the best way to enjoy the island.

six of us aged between 70 and 10 hired electric bikes. The bikes were really comfortable, clean and of a very high standard. we did a beautiful 2-3 hour ride through the state forest behind Adventure Bay. Rob in his support vehicle was never far away if any of us had needed assistance. the whole experience was great value and comes highly recommended for people of all ages and riding ability

Rob was super nice and accomodating considering I went to Bruny by accident thinking the bike shop was over there. The bikes are top notch and the electric ones are very helpful for hills. If you're going to the neck then I recommend conserving some power in the flatter areas and cranking it to tour+ for the uphill. It's still a hefty workout.

Thanks rob!

We were a family of six with ages ranging from 10-64 and did a day tour on the pedal assisted bikes (which was awesome). The tour was great as we got to see the gorgeous scenery and wildlife. Rob really made the whole day a wonderful experience, especially the tastiest BBQ lunch. But most of all it was his patience, knowledge and friendliness that made this an awesome day! If you wanted to only hire the bikes it'd be worth it as the the bikes are well maintained and great quality!
