Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

30 mins from Mildura. Boring drive to there, and unless we missed something, boring once we got there. If you have any physical difficulties, please dont waste your time. We walked about the base for a little, but same scenery as near the car park. You must walk over a BIG sand dune to see the god tree, so if you have any difficulity walking, climbing, back, legs etc. DO NOT GO. Wear decent shoes as sand very hot and soft.
If you had kids who wanted to surf the sandhills, i can see the appeal perhaps. But this place was not for me.
PRO: gorgeous color of sand against the blue sky and green trees. Nice for a photo or two
CON: boring, may as well read the brochure and look at photos you get from Tourist Info Centre.

Great fun place to visit. Close to Wentworth, super fun especially for kids, lots of walking to be done, rolling down sand hills, sand boards for hire at Mildura. Stunning views of the hills surrounded by flat lands. God tree is definitely worth a pic and a read about its history.

A short drive outside Wentworth with a circular route around this “little desert”. Amazing place. We went about an hour before sunset. Peaceful with the most amazing pink sunset. Well worth the visit.

Rather delightful, and peaceful, place. Not often I get to see sandhills, and there are numerous ones here, surrounded by the flat, arid land. Quite pleasing though, and you can climb on them as well (I think). Great to explore.

The Sandhills are great and look really cool but 2 IMPORTANT things to note. There is no drinking water here. It gets hot so come prepared. On a warm sunny 30+ day the sand will become scorching by midday so evenings are probably best. Also, we hired boards from Mildura and they weren’t very effective. One worked but needed constant waxing. Boogie boards will not work at all. They seem to have film nights and festivals here which would be fun.

I was expecting a bit more from the Perry Sandhills - higher, steeper dunes perhaps. Maybe these bigger dunes are there, further away from the road. However, did find the 'God Tree' and thought it very impressive. A 500-year-old river red gum with its trunk buried by the ever moving sands. All that is visible are the upper boughs and crown of the tree. Still appears to be healthy, though. The sand is very fine and walking up and down the dunes, even though they may not be the steepest or tallest, does give your legs a good workout. Much appreciated after a long drive, sitting in the car. There are toilets and a shelter but no water supply.

If you love nostalgia, a trip to the god tree at the Perry Dunes is a must. Amazing 500 year old tree, buried up to the limbs in sand. And hey, 500 years ago queen Elizabeth the first was about.

Bit of dessert experience without the hassle! Easy assess, just a short drive off the Silver City Highway after Wentworth. Very good place to visit with young kids. Lots of fun and photo opportunities. Blue sky and red sand make the perfect background! We visited in October, when it was cool and comfortable. Summer could be very hot. Some basic toilet facilities and a small shelter on site.
This is a must visit place if you are in the area.

So you pull up in the car park and it didn't look like much, however once you climb the first sand hill there are sand hills for miles! Really feels like another world! There are table and chairs, drop loos. You can get boards from local sports shop in Mildura.

Would November be OK to visit the sand dunes or would a different month be better? What have people used to go down the sand dunes?
Thanks

We went there last September and it was the time of the heavy rains Victoria had through out that had numerous floods throughout. We were able to still go see the sand dunes in a normal car. As the sand dunes were damp we didn't go down them. There are some fantastic photo shots if you get up close and along the edges of the sand dunes that haven't been walked all over.
