A special curiosity of the local region but made famous by PETER ALLEN in his famous song. The details on the info plaques outside are very informative, so do take time to read them!
It used to be a bank & the extra thick stone walls would have been perfect for such security & not surprising with plenty of history about Captain Thunderbolt in the area.

This is a highlight of Tenterfield, and a must do to get a feel of the Tenterfield saddler story and the close links to Peter Allan. Great stuff!

The one thing I really wanted to see at Tenterfield - and it was closed. It was Monday.
I was really disappointed by this - as were the 6 other people peering in the windows with me at 9am - but understand that the world is not as it was pre-covid.
Despite not gaining entry, we appreciated the window-peering opportunity and the structure of the building anyway.
Tenterfield is such a beautiful, friendly, welcoming town, we couldn't rate anything here any less than 5 stars!!
Thank you - don't ever change.

An extremely interesting museum full of relics of old saddlers. Well worth a bit of reading of old notices and stories.

This is mainly about Peter Allen’s grandfather who was the Tenterfield Saddler. Times of opening are pretty limited and not up to date on website.
Well worth a look

Utterly unreal and very interesting, wonderful informative volunteers. Hopefully this property will continue to operate should the health of the owner decline.

So lovely to visit after all the songs and stories. So much history and info. Vol on site lovely and informative. Shame the council has no signage in main street so you can find it. Hopefully they will rectify soon.

I was expecting so much more . I had been told there use to have someone demonstrating saddle making no longer apparently. A number of newspaper articles on the wall about Peter Allen which was interesting. There seemed to be alot of posters/photos of things not relevant to the saddlers, Peter Allen or Tenterfield, including one of workers on The Empire State Building. Worth a look but don't get your hopes up.

We had a visit here as most people do to see where Peter Allens grandfather was a saddler
Was very interesting with lots of items collected about various known people from the district

Right in town all old memorabilia. Gold coin donation. Worth a look. Peter Allen’s grandfather lived here hence the song.
