About
Travel east from the Nundle Hotel along Oakenville Street for 800 metres then veer left where it is signposted to Hanging Rock and Barry. Travel 6.5 kilometres and you will see a road on the left that goes to Niangala. Almost opposite, on the right, is the track to the Hanging Rock lookout. (It should be sign-posted). Turn right down the track to the Hanging Rock lookout and park on the right hand side after 50 metres.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The view is panaromic from here and it is worth the drive up to it from Nundle. The car park is small and there are no facilities.

Stopped by for a quick look. Lovely view. Easy walk to lookout down to viewing platform. Parking and a bin. Great for taking photos

The lookout has wonderful views over the valleys. The surrounding areas indicated where buildings were located during the Gold Rush days. It's a shame none of the buildings remain today. Interesting fact though Ashton Circus started in this area and some of family buried there. Lots of history and recommend a place to visit.

A bit of a dirt road to get there but worth it for the view. Stunning!
We almost didn't go there after realising we had a dirt road to tackle but went ahead. Absolutely brilliant view - we had a very crisp, clear day so it was perfect.

The views from Hanging Rock Lookout are breathtaking!
While there isn’t much parking at the top, the road up to the lookout is in fairly good condition for a dirt road.

Nice view it was 4degrees when we went so didn’t stay long . If you don’t like narrow dirt roads then this isn’t for you but if you can handle it it’s worth the trip.

This is not where the movie was made. Rough track a little overgrown view good. Walking tracks not clearly defined and overgrown would not recommend for children.

This is a lovely place to visit. there is a nice walk up to the top of the rock which gives some lovely views over the surrouding countryside. There are a number of interesting features on the way up and lots of rocks to clamber over when you get there. Its a pretty strange and enchanting place but great for some fresh air and exercise.

Definitely worth the windy drive up the mountain, which is lovely in itself. The views west are superb, and given the elevation (1100m) the air is cooler and fresher than in the valley. Easy quick trip but could stay up there for an hour at least.

You can’t camp exactly at Hanging Rock but you can camp for free by at Sheba Dams a little up the road. There are are BBQs and camp toilets, fishing is OK.
There is no such Council as Nundle Council. Tamworth Regional Council is the governing body. The NSW owners of Ducati just held their annual Rally up there at Sheba, it was great, weather was perfect.
