About
Angullong is a family owned wine company from the premium high altitude cool climate wine region of Orange in the Central West of New South Wales located about 350km west of Sydney. The Angullong vineyards are located on the southern lower slopes of the Orange region at the foothills of Mt Canobolas, an ancient volcano. Angullong’s topography is best described as dramatic. The country ranges from undulating to steep hills with spectacular limestone escarpments that radically descend to the fast flowing Belubula River. Angullong’s bluestone cellars, located in the picturesque village of Millthorpe, was built in the late 1800s as stables to the adjoining hotel. The village of Millthorpe is located 15 minutes drive from Orange, and is home to a number of historic buildings that house a range of cafés, restaurants, accommodation and boutique, specialty stores.

This was the last stop on our pre-booked wine tour.
Starts with cold outdoor temperatures, advised people who walked in off the street had been given our booked table and sat outside.
Our host was Cynthia. So sad our last stop was a disappointing one.
We were treated as a complete afterthought, things like water not provided, fresh glasses between whites and red like every other vineyard visited.
The host kept reiterating only five tastings per person, we get it.
Not polished like the other vineyards: our tour was pre booked so they knew we were coming and on time. The great part was a group of 10 out of principle didn’t buy one single bottle of wine (sad as there were some nice drops) and just left without paying a tasting fee. We weren’t going to go chasing staff for assistance.
Avoid this one if you can if it’s part of a tour or you just happen to walk past.
Oh and this one has no rest rooms!

We were recommended to travel to Millthorpe during our stay in Bathurst (30mins drive) and visited Angullong Cellar Door. We had a lovely host Cynthia who was gracious, informative and provided us with an enjoyable afternoon of tasting. We bought lots of wine and will definitely return. Be warned that during the week, most shops are closed in Millthorpe as they only tend open for the weekend tourists...check opening hours of retailers. Otherwise Millthorpe is a lovely village to visit and Angullong cellars is a “must do”.

We enjoyed our visit to this cellar door recently. We were able to book a time during the day and found the staff to be very knowledgeable about the wines and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The Sparkling Rose and the Shiraz Viognier were our favourites.

Nestled in the little town of Millthorpe are the tasting rooms for Angullong Wines. Whilst not a cellar door the experience is very much the same.
The range is quite extensive with sparkling white and rose plus a compliment of typical and unusual varietals from their vineyards across the region of Orange.
The lady was very knowledgeable and entertaining as she took us through the range. I love their Italian styles of Sangiovese, Barbera and was taken back they had Sagrantino, a wine I had only previously tried in Umbria previously.
Suffice to say a case was secured and carefully taken home for a night to enjoy over a meal at our favourite local restuarant.

Angullong Cellar Door is situated smack in the heart of the historic village of Millthorpe, which is well worth a visit in itself. The town looks like it is only just waking up from the late 1800's or early 1900's so it is a photographers and crafters and antique lovers paradise, as wells being a winelovers delight. The Angullong Cellar Doo is located in the old saddlery near the main intersection of the town, you could say at the top of the hill. The lady working in the cellar door on my visit was a knowledgeable delight, and although I didn't stay for the tasting I bought a mixed half dozen and am now back at home enjoying the Angullong 2019 Fossil Hill Barbera which is an absolute delight,
I can highly recommend a visit to Angullong Wines in Millthorpe.

I was taken to the Angullong cellar door for a wine tasting by a friend and it was great. The wines particularly the whites and sparking wines were to my taste and sharing thoughts with the staff about each wine was really fun. I particularly liked their Chardonnay and I am pleased to say the bottle I bought got home safely to the UK.

A charming bluestone cottage in Millthorpe home of Angullong Wines Cellar Door.
Being able to " just walk in off the street" , like pre Covid times was a joy.
We received a very warm welcome from the hostess Shayne. Providing us with plenty of information regarding the wines & region.
Rating wine is a personal past time. But many of the wines from Angullong where some of the best We tasted on our weekend in the Orange area.
A must call on if in Millthorpe for the taste, ambience & service provided from Angullong

This is my favourite cellar door ever! Such lovely staff and a fantastic range of wines (I love all of the reds). Did a wonderful job of catering for visitors in the current Covid-19 situation - we felt very safe. Thanks, Angullong!

I would highly recommend wine tasting at Angullong. The wines are easy drinking and Heidi is very knowledgeable. We were welcomed and made to feel very relaxed. They had very good practises in place for Covid. You need to book during this time.

We decided to visit as they are experimenting with different (many Italian) grape varieties. Very friendly staff who indulged us wine "Bores"! Good wines at value prices for the quality on offer. I bought a case and before hand was not planning to - so testament to what they offer.
