Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Like stepping back in time, there is something for everyone. Brought back many childhood memories, too many wonderful exhibits to mention. Allow plenty of time as this place is huge & packed with memorabilia.

This museum has an amazing display of so much stuff from the past .
Was amazing to learn the history of the area. Everything is so neat and tidy and just cabinets full of collections and rooms that are categorized into sections for different things .
There isant just one of a collection but a whole room .
Was so amazed
We were only passing through and spent 1 1/2 hrs zooming through . You could easily spend 2-3 hrs depending on how much you want to look at . Entry fee is only $12 each . There is a park right next door which we had morning tea picnic before going in . There is a playground there and toliets for kids at park .

This museum has been extended since we last visited and it just gets better and better. There is so much history in the one spot. It is presented extremely well over a large area, in collective order - some displayed in old buildings and cottages etc on site. Lots of accompanying information. Not cluttered at all. Easy to get around. One of the best collections of historic items I have seen in a long time. Reasonable admission price. The volunteer on today was friendly and helpful. Covid-safe practices in place. Toilets on site. There is something here to interest everyone - such a diverse display. Allow 2-3 hours to do this museum. It is truly an asset to Gulgong.

What a fantastic experience! A real step back in time. Items from every part of life. My favourite room was The Pioneers in Petticoats, which showed the bravery and resilience of the women. Very inspirational.

Fabulous museum with soooo much stuff to see. Some incredible original old buildings (1800s) within the museum too (bakery, school, cottage, inn). So many artefacts from 1800s to late 20th century. Highly recommended if you stay or pass through this beautiful town.

This quite extraordinary collection of old stuff started in the CWA offices in 1961 and obviously grew in its current location. If it is not here it did not exist and you could spend hours in this vast collection covering all aspects of life in a country town that had character
