We visited yesterday and walked for about an hour along the tower shore and must have only seen about 10 people. Tranquil and scenic is the only way to describe Vyrnwy at this time of year

Thank you for your lovely comments, I too love Vyrnwy at his time of year with the changing autumn colours and beautiful crisp sunshine. We look forward to welcoming you back on one of our other scenic walks soon.

My wife's parents live a few miles away from the lake, so we often venture here for a scenic walk and to admire the view, and watch the birds. The lake itself is actually a reservoir and it was made about 150 years ago, when...More

Such a lovely review, thank you. The road around the lake is as you thought just under the 12 mile mark, making it an ideal route for cyclists. Between that, the way marked walks, the hides, cafes, wild play park for children and the option...More

A jewel of a lake with superb dam and beautiful scenic views. Pre defined routes for walking around the lakes but the signage is dreadful with tiny couloured arrows on inconspicuous posts . To walk around the lake you need to walk on the road...More

Thank you for your review, you've summed up Lake Vyrnwy quite nicely there with your first sentence. Currently our way marked walks, which are grey finger posts with colour co-ordinated footsteps (depending on which route you choose), are in need of some improvement in places....More

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you had a great visit and in the sunshine too! Kingfishers are amazing, I'll never forget watching them perform their courtship display while I stood on the Dam in awe a couple of years ago. I hope you've been...More

Great place for bird-watching, couple of hides to get you up close. Bike hire available if you feel energetic enough to cycle round the lake, about 11 miles I think. Also some good walks, stout footwear required.

It should be about 30 miles to the west, next to the body of Water conveniently labelled "Lake Vyrnwy!" It is however a superb nature reserve, with fantastic walks, a wonderful sculpture trail, a brilliant information/education centre and a lovely food/snack cafe.More
