Creswell Crags is a world famous archaeological site, a limestone gorge with caves and lake, home to Britain's only known Ice Age Cave Art. This art is thought to date to about 13,000 years ago and provide a glimpse into the rich culture and fascinating life of our distant relatives. Over 100 years of archaeological work at the site has unearthed stone tools and remains of animals providing evidence for a fascinating story of life during the last Ice Age.

We finally got round to this attraction and we were not disappointed at all. Richard our tour guide gave us so much information about the caves, tools, bones, finds etc that we learnt so much. The caves are well worth the visit and the site itself beautiful. The cafe staff were friendly and there was a good selection of food... More

Visited Creswell Crags first of all on Saturday 07 January and returned the following day to participate in a cave tour. We took our 8 year old daughter who is doing a project at school on prehistoric Britain. Despite this being more ir less on our doorstep we have never visited before. We will be going back for certain especially... More

Took my partners grand daughters here after they had a sleep over. For early January the weather was exceptionally mild. There are good footpaths around the lake creating a circular walk from the visitor centre. Along the sides of the crags which is a gorge are various caves which have carved stone slabs along the path giving details of when... More

Really enjoyed our visit. Had a lovely walk in the park which the youngsters enjoyed. Children then enjoyed looking for Craggy the Elf, which they did find! It made the walk round the crags interesting for them. Had option of seeing Santa or having ride in carriage, found the visit very entertaining. Lovely coffee shop and souvenir shop. We didn't... It was boxing day when we visited so the main site and car park were closed but after a short walk down the drive we still got to enjoy a lovely walk around the lake. We found this the perfect place to have a family walk because it was not too long or too short and it gave my dogs... More

I come here with my 8 year old son and partner to walk the dog, It's very well laid out and dog friendly with the bonus of coffee and cake when you get back to the visitor centre, Lots to do even if the attractions are ancient!

Didn't manage to go as I wasnt prepared to pay £3 for the 2hours left of the day (and less than hour of daylight). Even asking the staff they didn't care and seemed insulted that I asked. Shame as the sign outside makes it look like a place you could spend a few hours or more. Although you should note... More
