Really fascinating castle. A breath of fresh air from the normal sanitised, chocolate boxy NT/EH experience. Plenty of rough edges and all the more fun for it. Well worth a visit.

Chillingham Castle has a few things going for it. Its had plenty of action in the Anglo-Scottish battles. It has been a springboard for a Northumbrian independance gambit, and has had a few kings drift past. Plenty of people (mainly Scots) lost their lives here,...More

This was a little gem. A castle that has character without being pretentious. If you go then take the time to visit the Chiilingham wild cattle.

A great castle to visit that has not been upgraded or changed in anyway and you get the feeling of castle life as soon as you enter. Lots of interesting facts about the castle over the years and the gardens are well worth a visit...More

If you arrive before 5pm you can access all the grounds and the castle. The Ghost Walk starts at 9.00pm - 11.00pm well worth the money.
