It was a different visit to the usual castle - it catered more to the ghosts & gruesome side of history. We did enjoy it but I thought the admission charge was a bit high for the experience of the castle.

I love exploring and learning about the history of castles, houses, buildings etc. and their previous owners. So yesterday it was Raby Castle, today Chillingham Castle. Two very very different experiences. Whilst Raby offered me very good value for money, unfortunately Chillingham most certainly did...More

If you like weird and wonderful, this is the visit for you. The castle has quite an interesting history in itself but the present owner has transformed the place into an eclectic mix of the antiques and film props. There is no guide as such...More

Visiting this twelfth century castle is definitely a must, when you're in Northumbria. Tragically, it has a dark and very bloody history, however its well worth visiting, a remarkable place that's packed full of a history, antiquities, quirky, and unusual items, its not roped off...More

I’d heard of the Chillingham cattle but wasn’t aware there was a castle! We weren’t disappointed. Really interesting castle, stuffed full of eclectic relics and historical artefacts. Nice grounds with woodland walks to lake. Joint ticket to see wild cattle also available. Will definitely visit...More

Unfortunately we had just been to Bamburgh Castle so Chillingham was quite a disappointment. We did not stay for the ghost tour.

If you arrive before 5pm you can access all the grounds and the castle. The Ghost Walk starts at 9.00pm - 11.00pm well worth the money.
