This is a wonderful and thought-provoking place to see. Visitors who write negative comments about the castle because of the eclectic collection of artefacts miss the point. This is no sanitised version of an ancient monument, frozen in time with every historical detail explained at...More

Recently visiting this eccentric but fascinating place - very Hogwarts, very "hoarder-ish"!! Enjoyable ramble through this historic pile, after enjoying some delicious soup and bread in the tearooms on site

What a change to normal, boring Castles and stately homes. The eclectic mix of items on display was just fascinating and the staff/guides were so interesting to talk to. The cafe was great value with super tasty homemade soup. Other meals looked excellent too. Highly,...More

Our second visit to Chillingham Castle and it didn't disappoint. The enthusiasm of the guides are matched by the obvious enthusiasm of the castle's owner whose copious guide is well worth buying. The exhibits are eclectic and really offer an insight into the owner's ancestry...More

There are lots of reviews below, some strong feelings about the price of food, the clattered displays and whether the letters at the entrance are genuine. This does not detract from the fact that this castle is of immense historic significance, that the owner has...More

If you arrive before 5pm you can access all the grounds and the castle. The Ghost Walk starts at 9.00pm - 11.00pm well worth the money.
