Sad
Jun. 2021 • Family
Nothing to shout about. People were a mixed bunch. The smell of ‘special’ ciggies everywhere and visibly obvious by many. No police presence so can be a little intimidating. Probably why these guys can do as they please.
Beach is full of litter.
Could be a lovely town, but clearly uncared for and abused by visitors and locals.

Lovely little seaside town
Jun. 2021 • Friends
Really enjoyed our first visit to Whitstable- interesting little lanes behind the seafront full of lovely independent stores and restaurants. Fabulous long beaches out toward Tankerton and a lovely bustling harbour front with fresh fish bars, market and eateries.

Disappointed.
Jul. 2021
Most visitors will come by car but be warned parking is expensive if you can find a place to park, shops are also on the pricey side, so you may better off visiting Tankerton instead.

Very overrated and disappointing
Jul. 2021 • Family
Went here on the recommendation of a friend and couldn't have been more disappointed. There is practically no beach to speak of, just a few feet of shingles. There is a factory right by the seafront that stinks. Lots of graffiti visible as soon as you arrive. Parking was difficult and everywhere was packed. The streets are tiny so there is little space to move around. There are some nice looking small restaurants but all were very busy and didn't look COVID safe due to the tiny size and amount of people in there. There are lots of Covent Garden type shops, some of which were interesting.
Overall though, didn't enjoy it at all - ended up leaving after 2 and a half hours and went to Herne Bay instead which was much nicer.

A seaside town to explore on a day out
Jun. 2021
Whitstable is a pleasant seaside town with an active fishing industry. There are a few quirky little shops to explore, some places to go for refreshments and the fresh fish available in the harbour area. It has everything you need for a pleasant day out. It reminded me of a smaller version of Rye. You can walk along the coast with Herne Bay being about five miles away if you fancy some exercise.

What a lovely seaside town, lots of independent shops and places to eat. Loads of character and easy to spend a couple of hours wandering around here.

Lovely place for a long weekend
Jun. 2021 • Couples
Great views and a really quaint place to stay, would love to have stayed longer. Lovely weekend. Tankerton beach was really nice and lovely to see the beach huts occupied and in use by families having a great time.

Extortionate parking fees
Jun. 2021
This review is based on the extortionate parking fees which in my mind are extremely prohibitive. My partner and I had hoped to spend some time looking around the beach and shops as the drive in looked promising. However at £2.50 an hour to park meant a quick cup of coffee and then on to somewhere with more reasonable parking charges! How many others has this deterred I wonder?

A quant seaside town taken over by drunken youths- don’t go there
May 2021 • Couples
A quaint town totally over run by drunken rowdy local youths.
Arrived here expecting a lovely seaside town.
During the day and especially in the evening, there were hoards of youngsters with cases of alcohol roaming * the streets and beachside walks, drinking and taking drugs in full view, but no one seems to care. We were told by a local business owner that they don’t report it because they would gel their windows spray painted by them!
Motor bikes roar down the Main Street in the the evening at 70 mph but nobody cares.
