The ducking stool in Leominster Priory Church was last used to duck Jenny Pipes in the river in 1809 for foul language. Sarah Leeke was sentenced in 1817, but the river was too low, so she was hauled round the town in the chair. This...More

This instrument of punishment I was told by the curator of Leominster museum was one of the last known example of its type still in existence. It can be found in the local Priory church & is in a very good state of preservation. Well...More

Not sure why this is listed as 'Nightlife' as this attraction is simply to see the resting place of one of the last Ducking Stools used in the early part of the 19th Century. The Leominster Ducking Stool has been in the Priory Church of...More

Not Nightlife but interesting. It's an old ducking stool used to punish poor traders in the past. Now restored and held in the Church. Worth a visit to see the Church too.

We wouldn't have known about the ducking stool if it was not for Tripadvisor, it can be found in the Priory Church just a short walk from the centre of Leominster. I do think this sort of punishment should come back!

Lovely peace of history, really well preserved. Don't forget to read the poem displaid behind it. Priory Church, were the duckingstool is displaid, is well worth a visit.

The ducking stool, which is kept inside the church, is a very well preserved example. The previous day we had seen the ducking stool in Warwick church but the Leominster one is in a far better condition. The church itself is large with an original...More

The ducking stool is found inside the Priory Church of St. Peter & St. Paul in Leominster. It hails from the 13th century and was a Benedictine Priory. It is a beautiful building with some wonderful stained glass and should prove interesting to anyone who...More
