This intriguing castle has been the home of the Berkeley family for more than 850 years.

It has been used a filming location for many period dramas, including the BBC's Wolf Hall, Galavant and The White Princess.

It was the last place of residence of King Edward II, who was imprisoned in the castle and murdered within its walls.

The Castle is open from Easter until the end of October, from Sunday until Wednesday each week.

The Butterfly House is open from the beginning of May until the end of September from Sunday to Wednesday, walk amongst the stunning butterflies and tropical plants.

A visit to the Yurt Tearoom is also a must!

Please check our website for details open days and hours - we are always closed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Lovely castle and lovely grounds and garden you walk round and take in the gorgeous flowers and trees. Worth £11 a head for an adult. The yurt restaurant let's it down through lack of food choice. Bought a prepacked sandwich which was tasteless and dry. Freshly made sandwiches available would be better as the menu choices are limited. Jacket potato,... More

Never had a good memorable experience with any castles before,so I didn't have much expectations with this one too. First impression was no good as it looks like other castles. But the fun began after the guided tour started . Very very grateful indeed to the tour guide ,she is really very informative & attentive as we were shown from... More

This is one of the country's most important castles, not least because Edward II was probably (but not definitely!) killed there. We took a guided tour, and learned a great deal more from our well-informed guide than if we'd strolled round on our own. Congratulations to him for making history so vivid. The gardens are attractive, and the yurt, selling... More

The attraction was interesting and provides and excellent example of manor living. Unfortunately photos were not permitted.

We visited Berkeley castle recently and had a brilliant time. It's £11.00 for adults but if you keep your ticket you can return for free. The boards leading up to the castle are very informative and the flowers and gardens are stunning. The castle itself looks small but is actually quite large once you get inside but there are lots... Thanks very much for your review, it sounds as though you packed a lot into your visit! The gardens are spectacular at the moment, and as you mentioned, they are very peaceful too. Many of our visitors are surprised by the size of the Castle once they get inside and explore, the dungeon and Great Hall are always firm favourites!... More

The castle looks quite small from the outside but is quite tardis like inside. We went as a group which is cheaper and also means you have a dedicated guide. There is so much to see and without a guide you are likely to miss an awful lot. The tour takes around 1.5 hours, enough to be interesting and not... More

Thank you for your review, it's good to know that you enjoyed your guided tour; although our visitors are very welcome to walk around the Castle on their own, we always recommend taking one of our official guided tours as there's so much to discover here. Our sister Estate, Spetchley Park Gardens is also well worth a visit with 30... More

Really interesting place. The guided tour was very informative and the grounds and location are lovely. We were fortunate to have great weather and had a lovely lunch at the Yurt cafe by the kitchen gardens.

We visited as a group and had the benefit of an exceptionally well briefed guide with lots of humour thrown in. The castle is steeped in history and full of artifacts which is wonderful to see. The gardens are lovely with extensive views. The only disapointment for us was that after the castle tour and look around the gardens, we... More

Went on a bank holiday Monday so it was pretty busy. We arrived before 11am when they open and there was already a queue to get in. Kind of awkward to get through the entrance as you have to walk through the narrow gift shop to pay your entrance fee £11.95 adults £6 for children 3 and over. The castle... More

Thank you for your review, I'm delighted that you enjoyed your bank holiday trip to Berkeley Castle. What a shame that we had outbreaks of thunder and lightning that day! It's good to know that you enjoyed your visit regardless of this. I hope you come back and see us when the sun shines! More

Visited on Sunday 31st April to attend jousting performance. Gift Aiding entry was rewarded with return visits for 12 months - a great idea. We enjoyed the beautiful gardens prior to the jousting - our compliments to the gardening team - they looked superb. The jousting was a bit disappointing - no blood (joke) - but seriously, their PA system... More

Thank you for your review RangerRoger. I will certainly pass your compliments on to our gardeners, it's lovely that you've acknowledged their hard work as they're a very small team. I note your comments about the jousting pa system, we hope to book them again next year, so will make sure this is addressed for 2018. Our Tudor group are... More
