Each of my children, ages 3-10 enjoyed every aspect in so many different ways. After their father passed, it was difficult to enjoy things again but this visit was well worth it.

Tractor ride around the site was both informative and enjoyable, the site now has a wealth of wildlife but the history is also fascinating.

Visited in half term with my nephew's, they enjoyed the hands on experience and professor Nitrates show, to be honest I think I enjoyed it even more., the on-site cafe was outstanding, we all had a nice meal, it was good to get decent food without getting ripped off like some theme parks..
All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day.fully recommended 👍 👍

We had originally thought that we would be at the Royal Gunpowder Mills for a couple of hours but it turned ou to be so interesting and the staff so enthusiastic that we where there all day. We had started at the exhibition centre, armoury and theatre before moving on to see some of the mixing houses. At the rocket lab we were welcomed by volunteer Derek Back who gave us a thorough tour explaining everything about the rockets and motors. After this we stopped at the cafe where, again, foodwas served prompty. Having then explored some of the other buildings we took the guided tour of the site courtesy of John (driving the tractor) and Richard giving the excellent comentary.
It is a truly fascinating site and one that is well worth visiting. Thank you to all the staff and voluteers for making it such an interesting day

I was here with a group, we had plenty to do all day. All activities were a reasonable price. Staff and volunteers were more than happy to help and all super friendly. I would come back here and recommend it as a day out any time.

My son, who lives in Essex, suggested a day out at the gunpowder mills...there was 2 adults, 2 seniors & 3 children. The entrence charge was very reasonable around £50 for all 7 of us...no extra charge for any of the activities..The 'lab' experiments I did think were a little tame, even my 2 -6 year old twins thought so...But the other available activities were great.....they made a rocket each, which were carefully carried around until launch time. The craft room was great, each of them decorated a tee shirt...the only thing you had to buy at a Very reasonable price..the wildlife tower was worth a look. We didn't have time to catch the tractor tour, but we can always return, as we didn't get to see every thing. The actual buildings & grounds were lovely, plenty of space, the small cafe was very reasonably priced... Would certainly recommend a visit
