Fred Olson Cruise mv Back Watch Pyramiden is a really unusual place, one has stepped back in time to the old USSR .It looks as though the town is untouched since the mysterious evacuation. The armed .Russian guides (in case of polar bears) were very...More

Several operators offer trips to Pyramiden. We chose the MS Polar Girl because it was a larger ship and took a bit more time than the others. It was the right choice for us. The tour group picked us up on time from our hotel...More

My experience included a cruise to Pyramiden via the glacier opposite, where we saw belugas. The history and atmosphere of the place was fascinating. Unfortunately, it was a bit rushed due to other tourists straggling behind and seemingly unaware of the potential danger of polar...More

Pyramide is a ghost town, 3 hours by boat from Longyearbyen. The town is special and nicely weird. We had a great guide, got a lot of information. The boat ride shows you glaciers, fjords, ice, canyons ... it's so beautiful and special to see....More

We really enjoyed the trip even though there was scarce wildlife and we could not land due to ice. The scenery was spectacular and the sunshine and visibility offered great photo opportunities. We did see some bearded seals, puffins and Guillemots

Pyramidal ghost town is unique in nature and location. There is much written about its history online. I stayed here with a group on a snowmobile tour and want to discuss the only hotel, Tulip. The room we had was one of the modern ones,...More

In a nutshell: Marvellous Experience in a rough, impressing nature and at a well worth seeing "lost place", competently guided both on board and at land (2017-08-17). MS "Polargirl" is classical, small but well seaworthy ship which offers you both windy hours with unforgettable sights...More

Wildlife roaming around the streets, abandoned buildings & structures, coal mining equipment, lack of mobile reception as well as a possibility of being within a 100m of wild polar bears (Don't worry, its very safe). Pyramiden is a treat for those who wish to experience...More

This "attraction" is very interesting if you come prepared. If you know nothing about the place, then it is a longish daytrip to a weird abandoned city. If you read about the place ahead of time and are interested in Russian history or abandoned architecture...More
