Excellent temple. Sarva darishanam. Fast moving queue for Ambaal darishanam. There is a Divyadesam (Perumal) right behind the Kamakshi Amman Sannidhi. The darishanam of the Perumal is through a reflection in a mirror (Kannadi Darishanam). We asked one of the officials as to how to get inside, he said that we need to get a ticket for Abhishekam. We got an Abhishekam ticket for the next day at 5:30am for which ₹700 was accepted through UPI and ₹300 through cash (??).
The next day , we reached the Kovil at 530 am for the abhishekam. At the entrance, those with the Abhishekam tickets were moved out and asked to sit in a place. The names of the ticket holders were called one by one and then made to stand in another queue. Some of them had a Saree for Amman, which was taken by the guide. A small sankalpam was done just outside the Garbhagriha of Amman for each of the ticket holders. About 40 of us were squeezed to sit in front of the Amman Sannidhi. Abhishekam started at around 630am, but we could not see much since we were at the back. One has to either sit in the front, be tall enough, have a crane’s neck or have a vision to transparently see through the heads in front, to get a good view. The Abhishekam finished by 730am. While going out, were given prasadam in a bag and then asked to give ₹500 (????). There was no separate darishanam of Perumal sannidhi (got a curt look when we asked about the same).

This temple is located 1km away from the Kanchipuram bus stand.
Kamakshi Amman Temple is believed as one of the shaktipeeth, where Sati Devi's body parts fall.
Where Devi Kamakshi is seated in yogic posture and flanked by the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwar.
We need to contact Pandit for performing abhishekam which starts at 5 in the morning, for abhishekam devotes can bring pooja items,Saree for Kamakshi Amman, and other items.
People who want to do abhishekam have to come on patupancha or shirt to be removed during pooja and this pooja is done inside the main temple.
Mobiles are allowed inside the temple.
During Fridays, weekends and special days crowd is more.
The temple timings are from 9 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 9 pm. All temples in Kanchipuram are closed in the afternoon.
It is having beautiful architecture. It's a solemn space of grace and calmness.
This is a large complex with a temple tank and several mandapams (halls), including one with 100 pillars. The main sanctum has a gold-plated roof.

Visited the Kamakshi Amman Temple in Kanchipuram,
This is a very large temple and one should walk slowly while in it, feeling the divineness of the temple.
Mornings are less rush, evenings are more rush.
The Temple has an ABHISHEKHAM, in the morning at 11 am and evening 4.00 pm. Cost is Rs 1,000 per person and ticket can be purchased from the cashier in the temple complex. Attended the 4.00 pm one. About 20 people are allowed in a shift. They make you sit in the Sanctum Sanctorium right in front of the Kamakshi Amman Devi idol and do a complete Abhishek, a process which takes about 2 hours.
Definitely worth it. No two arguments about it.

We visited this temple during a weekday thinking it will be less crowded which it was and quickly entered through the free line and not through the paid line due to less crowd.
But as we reached very close to the deity there was someone conducting pooja at the temple due to which the line was stopped and couldn't move. And soon there was a huge line which could have been easily avoided if they would have continue to move people who are just to seek blessings.
But this was not the case!

I went on a Tuesday expecting too much rush. But in TN people don't do good things on Tuesday, hence not many PPL come to Kanchipuram for their wedding shopping. So the rush wasn't much. The idol of Kamakshi Amman is so beautiful. You don't even feel like blinking. They have a closer view of Amman which the temple person allowed, but took 200 rs from 2 of us . I was ok as i got uninterrupted darshan for 5 min (don't know if this is right or wrong).

Amma Narayana! Amma giving blessings in Kanchipuram - Please visit and get blessed! This is the place Sri Sankaracharya placed Sri Chakra. Must visit while in Kanchipuram or nearby!
A large pond beside the temple, Panchaganga, is a visual treat to those who visit in the evening. The Temple itself is an artistic marvelous.

We visited the Kanchi Amman temple recently. We made some offerings to Devi Amman.
We were shocked when the priest blatantly demanded money to take the offering to Devi.
In any case we always voluntarily keep some money on the platter, but in this case the demand was blatant and just not within any level of moral conduct. These kind of priests bring bad name to the town and the temple.
We ask the temple authority to put an end to this kind of money grabbing by priests which happened only at this temple amongst so many we visited at Kanchi.
How this happens at such a prominent temple?

One of the Shakteepeetha. A must go place if you are planing to south India trip. There are three Devis. Kamaksi at Kanchipuram, Meenakshi at Madurai, Vishalakshi at Kashi- Varanashi. One should try to go there if possible. Any ways..The temple is not only a Shatipeetha but one of the best example of great south India sculpture. Architecture of the place is subject to study... It is a great place to visit if you know the history of the temple. Good time is early when the temple starts at 9am and there is less crowd. With the current heat it is advisable to visit during this time. Staff who usher are not friendly and always looking for ways to make extra money.

The Kamakshi Temple is one of the must visits in this part of Tamil Nadu. It is quite large a property where the pradakshinam will consume some time. The deity (a form of Goddess Parvati) is supposed to be the wife of Ekamreshvarar (a form of God Shiva) in the nearby temple. The unusual presence of a sugarcane in the hand of the deity has multiple explanations. This temple is linked to the 5th Shankara peetham of Kanchi which originally was sort of a branch of the Sringeri peetham. It has one of most hygienic footwear counters in Indian temples with a water tap beside that with continuous supply of water.

We just visited the temple early morning (check temple times), and did pooja without any problems. Croud was less on a weekday.

Hi Sridhar, in general, only 2 persons are allowed for that slot. If you are lucky, and if not a festival day, they may allow 1or2 more. Have a good darshan of Ambaal.
