This is a pretty rocky beach. Our resort was on this beach, similar to many other that are there. It's a peaceful place, but a bit difficult to go in water.
Also, water level keeps changing. Sometimes you will see a lot of water, and other times less. There must be a science to it.
You can skip this beach if your resort is not there, you will not miss anything.

Hi Folks,

So finally i decided to venture into Andaman Islands to escape from the mundane and experience the nature's serenity. I must admit that Andamans has one of the best beaches of world with crystal clear blue water, lots of marine life, dirt cheap water activities and of course wonderful people.

If you are on a wheelchair I would advise to go with a tour operator. I went with 'Experience Andamans' and was very happy with their service. Their staff's are spread across all locations and are service oriented. They are very flexible and really understands the needs of the customer. Kudos to the team.

So my trip started from the usual Port Blair(1 day) and from there to Neil Island(1 day) and finally landed on Havelock Island(for 3 days).

Transportation within island is through cabs and between island is via Ferries. And for a wheelchair person the transfer is manual; you will be manually lifted to get onto ferry/cabs but need not worry, staffs are congenial. For ferry always go with Makruzz(or pvt ferry) as I'm not sure if govt. ferry staff would help you :-(.

Coming to water activity, you can take up any kind of activity depending on your level of disability. If you are paraplegic/quadriplegic the lifeguard may not allow you to do snorkeling or swim in deep water. Even I was denied, hence had to be content with Jet Skiing and Glass Bottom Boating. Undersea walking has been stopped now.

We choose a beachfront resort(Haveloack Island Beach Resort), it has the Govindnagar beach at close proximity. This helped me to fulfill my desire of swimming in the beach. In wheelchair if you want to get close to beach water always go in reverse direction; this way the bigger wheels never get stuck to the sand.

So in a nutshell, Andaman is a must visit for all nature and water lovers. Apart from small hiccups it can be accessed in a wheelchair and enjoyed to the fullest.

Thus go for it.

Perhaps the most amazing experience of our Andaman trip was Scuba Diving at Beach No 2 Govind Nagar Swaraj Dweep (Havelock) Island Andaman & Nicober India.Since we had no previous experience with Scuba we took the trip meant for absolute beginners.I went for the dive along with my two sons aged 11 and 15 and even though we knew swimming we were told that it was not essential.First we had to fill up a form to decorate that we were medically fit for the dive and we were not suffering from any chronic illness like high blood pressure... Thyroid.. Diabetes.. Any ear problem etc etc. Then we were shown a ten minute video and given a ten minute practical training in waist deep water in the diving suits to show us how to breathe underwater.. How to communicate with the instructor.. What to do in case water gets into the mask or oxygen tube and into the mouth etc. Each of us were assigned a separate instructor who then guided us into the water for the dive. Once we started our trip underwater it seemed we have been suddenly transported into another planet.. A beautiful planet full of colourful fishes and corals and other sea creatures glistening in the rays of the sun shining through the water. The water was crystal clear and the Marine life was sparkling and seemed completely oblivious to our existence. The coloured fishes came and swam in front of our noses... The sea bed was full of different types of corals like finger corals.. Brain corals.. And a lot of other underwater plants and life which were mesmerizing and the fishes of various sizes were passing through them like we pass through busy city lanes.
But we had to come back nonetheless... Back to our world but with memories of sights which will forever stay with us.
The price for the gig comes to around INR3500/= to 4000/= and the whole process takes about 1 hour. The instructor takes the beginner diver down to a depth ranging from 8 to 12 Meters. It is an experience worth every rupee and moment spent.
Thank You

Govind nagar beach has a very unique and interesting natural phenomena where daily post 3:30 pm the water starts receding and uncovers all the sea jewels and rocks which lay hidden under water and then 8am onwards water again rises to its glory creating a superb natural swimming pool which gets evacuated daily and with morning stepping in the pool is ready for us to enjoy again.
The rocks which are widespread and appreciable size may be hindrance to the avid divers but for those who like to stay afloat on tides its a wonderful experience.

On way to deep sea snorkeling at the Oval Reef, we went to Govindnagar beach behind Barefoot Scuba. Amazing views with torquoise blue sea.

Most of the resorts and hotels have access to this beach which for me was the best for this reason alone. Excellent sunrise views at low tide and very long so walking is great in the early mornings. The sea side length of this beach must be over 4 kms and fairly clean though some tourists are guilty of littering. Perhaps some dust bins can be placed at appropriate distances..

We stayed at Forest Rest House, Havelock Island and this beach was like a private beach for us, approx 500 meters in length and lovely scenery. Have a look at photos of sunsets and sunrise.

yes you read it right. Most of the resorts on havelock have this beach as there own property (this is what they claim). You can enjoy a walk with your partner on this beach during evening with cool breeze around.
