Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to see Tina, and even though we were in te nose bleed seats, we still had a good view. The accustics were great! The building itself is beautiful! Seats very comfortable. If in Columbus again and have the opportunity to see a show at this venue, I definately will!

The theatre is beautiful. My only complaint is that it’s not easy to figure out where to go to find your seat. They had minimal ushers helping people.

I have taken my 4 children to see a Christmas Carol at the Ohio Theater every year since 1982, even as adults. I started the tradition with my grandchildren when they were 5 years old. Even after moving out of state I would arrange for all of us to make the 4 hour drive (each way), pay for accommodations and the cost of gas and food. Prior to this year our last time was in 2019 and we were all excited to be able to return this year. However, our disappointment with the new version was horrible. Key elements were missing, scenery was terrible and more than 90% of the dialogue was unintelligible. I heard multiple people echoing the same sentiments throughout the theater, even expressing comments such what “dialect” the actors were using. With great sadness we all agreed that we would not return in the future to the Ohio Theater to see this production again. We will attempt to find the traditional play in another state even if it requires further travel. The money and time invested in attending this production was not worth it. I wish the actors success in their careers in the future.

I attended "Tribute to Aretha Franklin" tonight for my first C'Bus theater experience and found the character of the Ohio Theater very lovely. Sound/acoustics were good and performers did an EXCELLENT job with an invigorating experience by the conductor!!!
The drawback is it is not very accommodating for the elderly and persons with limited mobility--far too many stairs without incurring a very costly ticket. I recommend a section at lower level for this group of attendees. The stairs were a bit much to manage at age 78 and 85!! But the hostess/hosts were very helpful-made it even more enjoyable by finding us better seating. Wonderful Broadway-like experience--can't wait until my next event there.

While visiting Columbus, we bought tickets for the Broadway “Hairspray” performance. The interior of the theater is beautifully adorned and layered out for 2700 patrons. There were two long lines when we arrived, but they moved quickly and we were in our seats in about 15 minutes. Great show in a great historical venue (1928).

We saw Hamilton in Balcony C - so close to the ceiling for sure. We noticed there was a nice cool breeze upstairs so we were happy that we had light sweaters with us.

One tip, bring an umbrella if it is raining because we had to line up outside to go through security before entering the building.

Another tip, park at the Huntington Garage that is .8 miles from the theater as when we were leaving, there was a line of @ 100 people waiting to enter the stairway to get to the underground garage parking.

The whole Wicked play was unbelievable My favorite part was the end when they were sing "Defying Gravity ". Spectacular way to end it when Elphaba started rising up and singing. The audience was the best interaction crowd I have ever heard before. The cast and crew were the best. The orchestra was simply fabulous. It was amazing to see a play at the Ohio Theater. I had forgotten how close you really are to the stage once you are seated in the Loge section. Best place to seat for anything at the Theater. I highly recommend this play to anyone older than 13. That's just my personal opinion.

The theater is beautiful and the acoustics are perfect. If a tall person is in front of you some of the stage will be cut off from site. Also it is extremely hot in the theater so use the playbill to fan yourself and do not wear heavy clothes.

The 1928 build theater has survived many years and was scheduled for demolition in 1969 but was saved and completely restored. The inside is elegant with much of the old style preserved including a theater pipe organ that was restored. It is home for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, local ballet company and several other performing arts. It is staffed by mainly volunteers who usher guest to their seats. The volunteers are all dressed similarly and very polite and friendly. The Ohio Theater also host several touring Broadway Shows. The theater is across the street from the Ohio State Capitol building and parking is available in their parking garage. I have seen several Broadway Shows, listen to Symphony Orchestra performances, watched old movies in the summer, and attended some small College graduations.
It is always enjoyable to attend things that take place at the Historic Ohio Theater.
