- c cRichmond, Virginia159 contributionsYou MUST visit hereThis place is GREAT!! but don't go hungry, you'll want to spend the mortgage money on the treats here. Similar of the Reading Market in Philly, a bit smaller scale but just as impressive and mouth-watering..start with abundant, local produce, fresh and varied, and then inside the main hall for EVERYTHING you can imagine. A selection of meats, cheeses, jams, baked goods, most anything you can think of is here for your eating pleasure. I would love to come here weekly and do my food shopping.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 19 October 2023
- SharieN_13DeWitt, Michigan793 contributionsWorth the stopFun place, the vendors were so friendly. All the booths of displays food and ware were nicely done. The food all looked very fresh.. We were on a time limit, and only purchased a couple pastry's which were delicious. We also purchased a couple of Kitchen utensils which were reasonably priced. We will go back before going homier our time allows.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2024
- Jenny G11 contributionsHistorical buildingHistorical building with a plenty of vendors selling mainly meats and seafood, sweets, breads, pastas and plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits of all kinds. We ate at the diner for breakfast which was tasty. Didn’t find a good place to sit and eat our treats: macaroons and a cheese danish.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 April 2024
- Denise5 contributionsWest Side Market is a Must See!We were amazed by the West Side Market. We have markets in Pa but this one in Ohio had large amounts of large loaves of bread and lists of fish. We ate at the restaurant that is in the market, the food was good and the staff were so helpful and friendly!Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 June 2024
- Cathy G1 contributionFabulous time in a friendly city where we enjoyed baseball, the old market and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The purpose of our trip was to take our 10 year old grandson to a Guardians baseball game. We were only there for three days but loved our first time in Cleveland. The city was beautiful, clean and friendly. We’d love to go back again one day.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 31 July 2024
- Kimberly P65 contributionsLove this market!!I love markets and have been fortunate to visit them all around the world. This market has it all! I was impressed with the variety of vendors ranging from fresh produce to decadent desserts and tempting prepared foods. I especially loved the ethnic offerings. We enjoyed a savory crepe and delish coffee for breakfast. I picked up dehydrated fruits and veggies and homemade pitas and hummus for my journey. The historic building is beautifully restored and the Ohio City neighborhood is worth exploring. We topped off our morning with a beer tasting with a stop at the Market Garden Brewery. If you love food this is a must do while in Cleveland.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 3 August 2024

Don't believe any of the rot out there about West Side Market's glory days being done, or about it being a ghost town. We went on a Friday morning, and while there were a few empty spaces most of the vendors were there, along with lots of customers. It was fabulous: you can buy some of the best butcher meat, deli meat, cheese, fish, and pastries anywhere in the city, and you can wander around inside of a gorgeous 100-year old building. Also, there is some really fantastic produce in the space outside of the building if you take the time to look. Yes, the shopkeepers are a little pushy, but all you have to say is "no thanks" if you don't want a sample. The parking is free for the first 90 mins. Go and soak it all in. It's a unique gem of a place. I never miss it when I'm in the Cleveland area.

It’s a typical urban market housed in a well reconstructed building. The decorated very ceilings were truly impressive. Except for produce that are housed in a separate building, the main building is populated with a hodgepodge of vendors without categorization making it a challenge to compare products on sale. Missing were seafood variety...What caught my eye was Jacob’s Mediterranean that the fees a wide variety of hummus, the novelty was the hot spicy one — terrific for falafel and dip for fresh veggies.

The West Side Farmers Market is located at Lorain Avenue and West 24th Street, Cleveland, across the street from the W25 Ohio City Metro Station. Very impressive and huge. There is a farmer’s market on the outdoor part of the market. Indoor part is a series of stalls of everything imaginable, meats to cheeses to bakeries to ethnic goods to prepared foods. The Market is definitely worth a visit, and be sure to enjoy the local specialties. You won’t be disappointed. Some stalls accept credit cards, others only cash. Check website for details, but believe the market is closed on Mondays. A parking lot is off West 24th Street and there is a fee. Would definitely visit again when in Cleveland. Recommend.

West Side Market is like no other place anywhere within driving distance. Fresh fruit and vegetables surround the "meat" building. I love to stand at one end of the outside portion and just watched the people and colorful food. So much variety and it is all very fresh.
Inside there is every meat imaginable and the biggest gyros I have ever eaten. Truly a wonderful place. Nothing is low price though. Come ready to spend and walk away with tremendous bounty.

I don’t get the reviews whining about the hours. This is a working market, where many of the city’s restaurants source their ingredients. So plan accordingly your time to visit. It is a fascinating and busy market that reflects its history as a spot for immigrants from many parts of the world to find ingredients from the old country. Well worth a visit with many delicious things on offer.

A great experience over all. I got the best liverwurst I've ever had there! Lots of choices, but beware of Miriam's produce. She really overcharged me and my friend. I think she saw us coming. I was charged $ 68.00 for a bag of grapes, 3 mangoes, and a pineapple. It's definitely my fault for not questioning her, but she was moving quickly and rapidly talking to other customers. The way she weighed the produce and conducted business while her coworker was talking to me reminded me of a con artist as I thought about it later.
She was the last vendor I visited and was a disappointing ending to an otherwise lovely experience.

This was my first visit to Cleveland and this covered market was a must-see. More than 100 years old, it has specialist baked goods reflecting the city's cultural diversity, in addition to the usual fish, meat, cheese and vegetables.
If I lived or worked downtown I think I would visit most days to pick up fresh food. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit. Parking is free for the first 90 minutes, We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was congested inside the two buildings. We bought cooked food for lunch and various produce and bakery goods. The vendors sell fish, meat, bakery, produce, fruit and other products at reasonable prices. Everything looks very fresh. Bring your cooler!!

Trekked over to this market, located in the hipsterish neighborhood of Ohio City. Cleveland is a city of great ethnic diversity and it felt like they were all represented here. Produce, specialty items, crazy beautiful bakery, and lots of butchers with stuff you've never heard of. Bacon Bomb, anyone? Fun. Go hungry. Bring cash. Allow for two hours roaming the food halls with a bite to eat seems right. Pay parking on the street.

A historic Cleveland food market with vendors selling high quality meat, fish, produce, baked goods, etc. Prices seemed a bit high - but as tourists we were mainly admiring the place and not buying much. Very few cities in the U.S. have this large and varied a market in continuous operation as this one. Definitely a fun visit! There are also various restaurants in the immediate area.

If you have your own mobility scooter, the Market is definitely accessible, though. It is just packed with people.

There are hundreds of open stands each with different items. Some have prepared food, coffee, there is one selling herbs and spices for cooking, another for cookware, candy, greeting cards. There is a wide variety of booths. There is an outdoor area that is mainly fresh fruit and veggies but inside are many fun things.

Do you have to take the tour? Or just come and look around on your own?
Written 26 October 2018
There is no tour. Parking in the lot adjacent is free for 90 minutes and after that it is pretty cheap. Explore this wonderful local treasure and surrounding neighborhood for a fun day!

How far is the West Side Market from the Independence Red Roof Hotel and the Christmas Story house?
Written 6 October 2018
The Christmas Story House is in Tremont which is about a 10-minute drive from the West Side Market.
Written 16 October 2018
The website states that they are open at 7am, but the vendors seem to all say they start at 8am... I want to go to Ohio City Pasta and the creperie... will those not be open at 7? I can't stay past 8am unfortunately.
Written 10 July 2018
The doors may open at 7am— it’s like a mall operation— so the space might be accessible but not the vendors.
Written 11 July 2018
I saw on their website that there is a parking lot behind the Market. - is it free?
