Via Ferrata de la Grande Fistoire in "le Caire" Near Sisteron and near the lake of Serre-Ponçon is the village of Cairo, "Lou Caïre", rock in Provençal. On this calcareous wall of 250 m of Tyrolean and Nepalese height, footbridge, slope, bridge(deck) (150 m, 130 m and 220 m) follow one another: one of the most beautiful French hikes(rides).

This is in a beautiful location. We are in a motorhome and found getting there relatively simple with ample parking. We were even able to stay the night, which we were grateful for post experience. The via Ferrata itself provides scope for novice through to expert. With a variety of different equipment on route. You can descend either by a... More

Along with my daughter of fifteen years and a friend we visited this via ferrata at the end of July. Although we tried to converse with the people running the site in French, talking and taking instruction was made much easier by their excellent English language skills. There were several variations to the route and the difficulty of each was... More

We aren't rock climbers but loved this and always felt safe. Some challenging bits but definitely achievable. Zip lines to finish are great fun too.

This was an exhilarating climb, it took us 3.5 hours to climb all but the very last small leg, which is an overhang, you can cut off before this last bit. You must be fit, determined and have a very good head for heights, most of the climb is a sheer drop. We are novice climbers but reasonably fit, we... More

Beautiful site, at the begining of the Alps. The staff is helpful but instructions and safety advises are minimal. The climb is steap, well done and you can opt-out at different stages. There is 2 bridges and 3 zip lines. The overall take about 2 hours. If you have no rock climbing experience, don't go.
