I generally don’t like McLaren Vale reds style” and speaking with a friends, she suggested to give Vigna Bottin a try, and …

She was absolutely right, their reds are amazing and you can find even “Vermentino” absolutely surprised to find a grape from my Island (Sardinia)

Top pick for me: Nero d’Avola and a real Italian Prosecco D.O.C. 🙌.

Location 10/10 very looked after and cozy

And a big compliment to our Sommelier Alex!

We loved our lunch at Vigna bottin. The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. I enquired about bringing our puppy along for lunch as we were travelling with him. They were accommodating and seated us in the courtyard which was beautiful. All the staff were lovely, but a special shout out to Maria for her kindness while booking and during our dining.
Food was delicious and the wine was great.
Highly recommend a visit!

Beautiful food and top notch service! Husband and I dined for lunch on the a la carte menu, authentic flavours that will transform you to Italy! Staff so friendly, they hosted us at the table to enjoy the wine tasting, really relaxing and we didn’t feel rushed at all. We had been here once before for a tasting and so happy we came back for lunch this time around. Will definitely be back, thank you for a memorable and relaxing arvo leading to Christmas.

Having been seated we were then left on our own and had to ask for menus which arrived 15 minutes later. Having then ordered our food after almost one hour and no food whatsoever coming out of the kitchen for anyone we got up and left.

On arrival we were told that it was like a typical Osteria in Italy. We an assure you that this would never have over there.

This lovely winery offers a very good selection of Italian grape varieties and the quality of the wines is excellent. The food menu is great offering authentic Italian dishes just like Nona used to make and the prices are quite reasonable too. We ordered the meatballs to start with and they were delicious. Next we ordered the Orecchiette Calabrese with Italian sausage, broccoli, pancetta, cream and a hint of chilli. OMG it was to die for! The Risotto Mare with prawns, calamari, mussels and cockles was also very good. We absolutely love this place and Vigna Bottin is definitely now one of our favourite dining places. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent, very prompt and efficient. Can't wait to come back again soon and try some of the other dishes on the menu.

The food was average in taste with small portions that was suggested to be shared. The lasagna which we ordered 2 serves was lacking actual sheets of lasagna and only contained the sauce and cheese. This was our second time visiting for a meal and the first time was amazing. This time left me a little disappointed.

We came to Vigna Bottin for pre Christmas lunch & enjoyed a tasting beforehand. The cost of the meal seemed a little expensive for the type of home cooked food. The food was pleasant, not special & there were no potatoes on the shared seafood main, instead a few undressed salad leaves . The cannolis at the end of the meal were soggy & not the crisp version’s we were anticipating. When we commented at the end of the meal were told they would inform the chef! Not good enough methinks! The cost of the tasting was included in the final price despite other reviews stating that by buying a bottle & staying for a meal it was waived! Not so in our case! Overall a pricey average lunch for shared main & entree. The dessert disappointing & @ $199 not great value for money!

We were a bit disappointed in our meal. Phots looked good. The reality was the place was empty when we went and it just lacked any atmosphere. Staff were really nice. The arancini’s were delicious. The main meal - veal schnitzel was a bit strongly and tasteless. Herb potatoes were soggy. Salad was ok
We wouldn’t go back

Vigna is Italian for vineyard apparently and Bottin is the family name of the owners.

Three of us met for a catch-up. The venue was formerly the site of Au Pear on Main Road between McLaren Vale and Willunga - in fact, the tourist street sign still displays that name across the road. Started with a comprehensive tasting with the knowledgeable people behind the bar. I think there may have been a cost for the tasting normally but as we were eating there that was waived and we bought wines by the glass which was served at our table.

The grapes were from their estate and included a number of lesser known (to me) varieties. All were enjoyable.

We had a choice of tables to sit at - inside the main room or under the outdoor patio (with clear drop down blinds (if required) or outdoors on the lawn under the trees and right alongside the vines. We selected the latter as it was a nice sunny day.

They do not say they have a restaurant but the food menu was sufficient for a tasty bite to eat while having a drink at a cellar door. Not a large selection but just right. The origins of the dishes are Italian and were all delightful. We shared.
Started with a grand antipasto platter which was great. We then had Nonna’ secret recipe meatballs with thick sauce, some spinach cannelloni rolls and another dish I can’t recall right now. Finished with home made cannoli.

Highly recommended and we took a couple of bots of Fiano with us. Great afternoon

In times when many wineries feel like big businesses it was great to go to a family run winery. The owners and their daughter along with other staff could not have been more welcoming. The wine flights were a good way to savour the wines; they were delicious and the wines offered complexing and interest. The thing I love about good wineries is that you can try a variety you have had many times before and still be surprised by new tastes.
I would certainly recommend this place and look forward to when their chef returns in July, I will be back for more.
