Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to look at these gardens but from the roadside it looked a bit overgrown and unkempt so because we had elderly parents who are not quite steady on their feet decided to not go in

What an effort to create such a lovely spot in such a harsh climate. Well worth a visit to see what hard work can accomplish. A friendly welcome and a long chat about the history of the garden, with photos.

An interesting garden with lots of lovely rooms something different around every corner and only two people doing the work a credit to them wish it was closer to Adelaide so we could visit it more often

We visited this private garden for a cost of 5.00 each. The lady of the house came out to greet us and told us the background for the garden which used to be a market garden and is now an important habitat refuge for wildlife, such as bearded dragons, after whom the garden is so named. She also spent some time with us, and has a small tin of creatures that have been found in the garden which is quite interesting and kids would enjoy this. There are many photos which provide further information for species found. Visitors may view the back and front of the garden and spend time on the seating provided.

There are some very quirky and interesting wire and metal sculptures which have been hand made by the owners. Some lovely zinnia flowers were on display.

On this occasion no dragons were seen, except for the statue kind!, but in summer they [bearded dragons] would be out and about for sure.

Could the entry fee perhaps include tea and a scone or something and some water? That might be a nice idea.
Nevertheless, i would recommend this garden to showcase how you can have an abundant, thriving garden in a harsh arid zone and cater to the local wildlife as well and provide important and safe habitat for them. Permanent and reliable water stations are available to the wildlife and good to see.

This is a private garden retreat on the outskirts of Peterborough. It is only $5 admission, which is a token to support the development of the place.

The grounds were once bare earth, and this is a harsh, arid climate. What has been achieved is a labour of love. The trees have attracted local birds, and there are bearded dragons and blue tongue lizards.

There is shade from taller trees which provides a microclimate for things growing at ground level. The owners are clearly passionate about developing a green oasis in a dry, sunbaked landscape

The rambling nature of the various areas flows from one section to the next. These photos were taken after a long dry Summer, yet there is still colour.

Recommended.

Dragons rest is a delight. It is truly amazing what can be grown in the desert. It is clear loads of work goes into this garden. There is always something in flower. The Eremophila Garden is one of a kind and a spectacular display of the range of this species which loves our desert climate. Well done to the owners. I would highly recommend you visit.

This garden has had hours and hours of work done to bring it up a main tourist attraction in this town. A credit to the owners and a garden not to miss.

This is one couples lifetimes work to create a garden in a semi-arid zone where plants and animals can thrive, the planting is gorgeous, attracting many birds and insects and being home to numerous bearded dragons.
The garden has been planned so there is something flowering all year round, Dragons Rest is biodiversity at work, from the soil to the treetops there is life everywhere.
Dotted with ponds, bird baths, and carefully positioned nesting sites the birds seem to love visiting and even breeding here. It's a beautiful place to wander around, sit on one of the many benches and just watch what might come along.
Brian & Barbara have lavished time and care to create a very unusual, interesting and totally unique environment. It's well worth going out of your way to spend a few hours here, feast your eyes on all the wonderful colours, listen to the birdsong and marvel at the bearded dragon lizards as they soak up the sun.
