Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bob the railway dog loved trains. He travelled extensively, mostly on the coal tender. He even got as far as Sydney.
There is a book about his life and adventures which is a highly entertaining and informative read.
This site is a statue of him.

What a delightful excuse to stop in Peterborough. This charming statue is easy to find on the main street. It is very life like and makes you want to pat Bob the Railway Dog and read his heartwarming story.

Great little town to stay for a couple days. Plenty to see if you have a love of railway history. Do yourself a favour and stop @ the local butcher in Main Street and get some chicken, cheese and bacon rissoles BOOM

Bob the railroad dog was well known as he travelled on the trains to and fro from Peterborough. All the locals treated him with respect and the monument is testimony as his memory lives on.

Find the book and have a read.
A funny little fellow and worth knowing about. SA's forerunner to Red Dog (that's worth looking at too)

This is a little story told nicely. It touches nicely on what was valued in a railway town where people worked hard and appreciated independence and character in almost anything.

I had heard about Bob the Railway dog and read the book written about him. It was a must to stop and "pat" him.

I first learned of Bob a few hours earlier in Terowie… when my Uncle recognised him. I knew nothing of Bob! I had purchased a book about Bob at the information centre about Bob...so my world was about to open. :)
If the book is to be believed Bob was a stray found on the streets of Adelaide who arrived on the Railways via William Ferry taking a shine to him. The book explained that he had paid five bob for him to get him off the carriage full of strays and thus registered him in September 1884. Bob's career was intended to be sent to Quorn, to be used to exterminate rabbits near Carrieton.
Instead with William's interest in the dog , his life took a turn and he became a much loved railway dog. It's a beautiful story. So if you are in town, go and see this statue.. .it has a delightful story to go with it.

What a great story of a dog back in the 1800s who loved riding on trains. He even went as far as Sydney! So worth stopping and reading Bob's story. Bob's statue is surrounded on tge pavement of other dogs who have departed.
