I am the founder of Gone AWOL and I have lived in Moana since 1976. I have travelled to or lived in over 70 countries and love meeting fellow travellers. I am fortunate to have been brought up in wine country and count the best wine makers and brewers in McLaren Vale as my friends. We had a great time on the Gone AWOL winery tour yesterday Luke is extremely knowledgeable of the area & the hidden gems in McLaren Vale that we wouldn’t never have visited if it wasn’t for Luke. We sampled some beautiful wines saw lovey scenery and met some very passionate wine makers. I can recommend Oscars for lunch one of Luke’s suggestions. Thank you Luke we all had a great day!

Luke created a custom craft beer and gin tour in McLaren Vale for us. We went to Swell (great beer and nice location), Ogre (Great beer and burgers), Settlers (the Shiraz Gin was the best thing I have ever tasted), South Coast Brewing Co (Great Porter) then Shifty Lizard (All a bit hazy by now but seem to remember having a great paddle of beers!
Luke picked us up from Glen Osmond, drove us around, joined in with the group, which was great and gave us great insight into beers, gins and wines in the region.
Will be coming back for bikes and SUPS in the Spring.

Luke is a very pleasant and excellent tour guide! He has a lot of knowledge of the region and its wines. He is very accomodating and allows you to tailor the day as you see fit. We were all very happy with our day and are looking forward to booking another tour with him in the future. Also his dog nash is a great edition!

Luke was a fantastic guide! Provided some great local gems and we collaborated to make a great itinerary. Loved the wine, loved Nache (his dog), loved the people. Really appreciated the short video he made of the day too! Can't recommend enough!

Luke took us for a very enjoyable trip through the McLaren Vale wine region,visiting both large and small cellar doors.Some of the smaller ones were places we would never have stumbled across by ourselves and were the highlight of the day,with some wonderful wines tasted and a view into the workings and barrel sheds included.
Luke runs a very friendly and professional operation with great local knowledge.We highly recommend!

Had a wonderful day with Luke’s Gone Awol tours. Luke planned the day for us and took us to wineries that we didn’t know. We had a great day wine tasting, pizza eating and gin sipping! Highly recommend.

Days don’t get better in McLaren Vale than a day on tour with Luke. Luke is so knowledgeable about wine and the McLaren Vale, but I think more importantly passionate about his home region. He is not a ‘tour guide’ he is a local. Luke was on a first name basis with every winery and we felt like we had the VIP treatment meeting local wine makers and going behind the scenes. Luke introduced us to the actual wine makers who put their heart and soul into the business and not just sales staff. We drove around wineries in the region for the next two days and every winery knew him and said we must have had the best day. We did. Look no further if your are in the McLaren Vale. This is the tour for wine lovers and lovers of a local touch. We will be booking this tour again and again.

Superb wine tour. Luke tailored the experience to our group and the types of wines (and gin/beer!) we liked. Starting the day with an e-bike ride to McLaren Vale was unique and set the tone for a fun and adventurous day out. Each of the wineries Luke took us to had really interesting and delicious wines making for a phenomenal day out. We ended up buying wine from everywhere we visited! The day finished perfectly with a cheeky G&T at local brewery/gin distillery. Luke is awesome. Highly recommend this tour.

Luke took as one wine tour in McLaren Vale, as he is a local he has great knowledge of what are the best wineries to visit according to your personal taste as there are so many to visit and one would not even know were to start...all in all we had a fantastc day. We stayed at Lukes Airbnb in Moana on the Beach with fantastic views and close to everything, beautiful walks along the Beach. A truly beautiful area to stay.

Just after a quote for 6 people to do an organised wine tour with maybe somewhere to have lunch.
I would prefer you to organise the vineyards as we have never visited the region.
We will be arriving in Port Adelaide off the Carnival spirit on the 29th FEB ETA 07.00 – ships ETD 21.00. Do you do pick ups off a ship?
We all prefer white wines and sparkling although I know the area is probably more known for its red wines, we would be happy with anything.

Could you also include the cost for the tastings at each vineyard?
