Excellent area for picnics and a place for kids to play
Apr. 2021
This reserve has the docking area for both the Proud Mary and Murray Princess so it can be quite interesting. Area is beautifully maintained, seats and table and walking paths along the river.

Great spot to visit
Feb. 2021
The council keeps this area really nice with facilities and a great lawn area. Very popular with families for a picnic, swimming, ski, canoe and fishing. There is a marker with the different flood levels on a dead gum tree which is interesting.

Nice Riverside Park
Dec. 2020
Quite a large park next to the river. The wharf is located here as well, and steamboats are sometimes moored. A number of historical markers, and good facilities, and playgrounds as well.

A Tribute to the past with enjoyment for the now!
Aug. 2019
Named after the PS Mary Ann, the first steam-powered vessel on the Murray-Darling launched from near Mannum on 16 February 1853, the Mary Ann Reserve is an outstanding tribute to a part of Australian transport history. It also pays tribute to the journey of Charles Sturt, and also to the tenacity of the town during the several Murray floods including the big one of 1956.

Nestled between the backs of properties that face Randell Street and the river, the park is spacious, well cared for and inviting. With a large car park and also designated bus parking, many can join the tranquillity of the setting with the mighty Murray lapping the edges of the park, the sounds of bird-life only spoilt fleetingly by the sound of a speedboat passing by. There are several fixed seats that face the river, two rotundas and a large covered area with a free public BBQ available.

Toilets are to the southern end of the park adjacent to the playgrounds. Full marks to the local community who have provided a specific playground section for disabled users. Although, this area is locked, keys are readily available at locations identified on the gate. A fully abled playground is adjacent.

On the pre-spring day we were there, several families were enjoying the sun and relaxing with picnic lunches and even a few trying their hands at fishing. Dogs are permitted in the park, but must be on a leash at all times, and, of course, cleaning up after your dog is a given with appropriate bags available within the park.

Return? Most definitely to enjoy the atmosphere, chill out and relax.

The Mannum reserve was and is a great spot for family picnics or just a day out , you can sit and watch the riverboat loading unloading passengers, have a fish or simply eat your fish and chips from the local deli.

Well maintained riverbank area
Jul. 2019 • Couples
This open lawned reserve borders the Murray River and is the departure point for cruises. Parts of the riverbank area are being rebuilt but normal operations continue. Everything is well maintained and facilities include toilets, shelters, barbecues, playgrounds and ample parking. It’s easily accessed from the main street, Randell Street, and it’s only a short if a little steep walk to a couple of bakeries and several pubs and cafes.

What a beautiful location on the Murray. The Murray Princess is moored here. The extensive lawned areas are fabulous for picnics or simply walks. Well done Mannum Council for the upkeep of this heritage location.
