I was travelling by myself in South Australia . This can often be tricky in terms of arranging tours or private tours . But right from the off Astrid at Flinders Experience 4WD Tours could not have been more accommodating . I ended up having a guided tour to myself - which I had to pay solo fees for . But it was the best money I spent in SA .
Astra’s has a real love and passion for the Filnders Range and this really shone through in her description of the area and the places she took me to : HER fave spots too . She was v knowledge about all aspects : history ; geology ; wildlife . She was entertaining company . We saw rick wallabies ; red kangaroos : Euros; Emus ; eagles . We had lunch in the old mining town of Blinman : visited Parachilna population 5 people ! It really was a magnificent day put in the marvellously beautiful Outback . I could’ve carried on and on ! It certainly was not a cheap option - but sometimes you get what you pay for ! Thoroughly recommended !

It's impossible to recommend the day tour with Astrid highly enough. She gives you a taste of so many things. The geology, the flora and fauna, the history, the people. It's like the best degustation meal where, through her knowledge and personality, she is able to weave all the ingredients of the landscape together to create an outstanding experience. Astrid is a high quality story teller who can handle a 4WD at the same time. The price is a bargain.

There is no point visiting places like Flinders Ranges without having someone who can take you safely through parts and this was well provided by Astrid in a comfy 4WD, and then provide excellent and accurate commentary. No question was unanswered. A fabulous 5 hours… highly recommended

We originally had a 6 hour tour booked but when wet weather hit the roads became impassable. Astrid contacted us the evening before and also the morning of the supposed tour and advised us of the need to cancel to ensure our safety. Fortunately we were staying for 4 days and Astrid managed to fit us in to a 4 hour tour on our final day. Wow - what an experience. Astrid was so knowledgeable and drove so safely. We learnt so much about the flora, fauna and geology of the area, as well as the people involved in the development of the area. I cannot recommend Astrid highly enough. Thanks again for a fabulous morning.

“Sunday, we went on an amazing 4WD tour of Flinders Ranges and Gorges. Out Tour guide was Astrid, an extremely capable driver, and she was so knowledgeable, and passionate about every aspect of the Flinders Ranges, Wilpena Pound, including the history, fauna, flora and geological composition. We really learnt a great deal for our experience. We were a small group of 4, had morning tea and lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed the day. Well worth doing when you visit the Flinders Ranges.”

How can you describe a 6hr tour thru the Flinders Ranges without missing something out. Matt (our driver) picked us up at dead on 8.00am on 4 November 2021 for our tour. This was the start of a great experience
Travelling thru Moralana Scenic Drive we stopped for morning tea in a dry creek bed (photo) amongst large red river gums. Looking at the aged rock formations and gum trees we were taken back in time expecting to see a dinosaur or two. We travelled on thru Ikara - Flinders Ranges National Park and stopped to see if we could see theYellow Footed Rock Wallaby (which we saw 5) (photo)
Such a diverse landscape thru the Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges the scenery was always changing. From emus and their chicks to Hawks and Eagles.
Lunch was at Raz Lookout. Then we travelled on to the Aroona Valley (Hans Heysen stay in the late 1920's
Return journey took us to the Stokes Hill Lookout to enjoy the view.
Thanks Matt for a wonderful day and we are now planning the next trip after the summer heat. See you in Autumn. Judy and Bill Niemann

Astrid picked us up promptly at 8.30 and immediately we knew we were going to have a great day, just because of her friendly and relaxed manner. Yes, you can do this day trip as a DIY - but the information that Astrid gave us made the Flinders Ranges so much more meaningful , brought it to life and she also has a wonderful wealth of knowledge. Lunch at Blinman in the old Pub was very nice as well. Astrid never rushed us from one place to another and in fact we arrived back somewhat later than the time the tour officially ended.
A great day - one we will never forget.

Big thanks Astrid for a great tour and day. Insightful, careful, respectful and overall fun. There is no way we would have seen or did a fraction if we self toured. Private tours like this are the only way to go to fully appreciate The Flinders
