About
Beerenberg Farm is a "must visit" for all food lovers visiting the Adelaide Hills. One of Australia's oldest family-owned jam, condiment and sauce producers, it is now run by the sixth generation of the Paech family on their Hahndorf farm. Open all year round, 7 days a week (except Christmas Day), the farm shop is open 9am to 5pm. Enjoy a leisurely browse through the complete collection of farm-made products in the delightful farm shop. During strawberry season (November to April), bring the family and pick your own strawberries from 9am to last field entry at 4.15pm. Patch entry is $5.00 per adult (13 years and under are free). Strawberries you pick are then weighed and are $10.95/kg.

- SisPerthBallarat, Australia890 contributionsA bucket list item ticked! It’s been decades since I first knew and loved Beerenberg products and it’s long been on my bucket list to visit the farm. At last! A road trip took us through Hahndorf and we stopped in for morning tea and a very thorough perusal of the shop ;-) Hubby chose a double scoop of the delicious dairy icecream for his treat and I had the Queen Scone – a beautiful, and very generously sized, heart shaped scone that was light and fluffy, with four different Beerenberg jams. I guessed them to be strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and apricot. A generous swirl of cream and a pretty dusting of pink icing sugar completed the treat. The coffee was good and the service was nice, though the prices in the cafe are a bit steep. The shop was amazing – I was in seventh heaven! I may have left with quite a collection of goodies and can’t wait to get the chance to visit again one day.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 October 2023
- pakabayAdelaide, Australia2,509 contributionsA Taste of BeerenbergThe 4 of us booked and attended A Taste of Beerenberg session. These sessions can be booked several time a week and run for 45 minutes [nominally] . They are a tasting of a savoury platter with a drink [including wine] followed by a very tasty scone with your choice of jam, and cream. The tasting is hosted by an employee although she was only in the room part of the time. I found it all a little bit pedestrian to be honest, but the other 3 really enjoyed it. There were another couple booked into the same session as ours and they were seated at a seperate table. The goodie bag that everyone was given at the end of the session contained a number of Beerenberg products and that much appreciated. The 30 per person cost was a little high I think, even with the goodie bag.Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 11 November 2023

All three of us ordered something different for breakfast and we all said how lovely the food was. I can recommend the toasted sandwich with field mushrooms, cheese and spinach with pesto and a blue cheese dressing. GorgeousVisited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 December 2023
- LilithB47780 contributionsGreat place to spend a couple of hoursEasy to find, plenty of parking. Our party of adults spent about 2.5hrs. Strawberry picking: The day we went was just right, bright but not too sunny or hot. The strawberries were nice and ripe, with plenty available. Cafe: The rest of the group ordered drinks and piece of cake, those with a sweet tooth enjoyed their order. I opted to try their ice cream instead, the Beerenberg orange blossom honey ice cream was tasty as was their strawberry sorbet (dairy free). Restrooms were clean, although there was a long queue (to be expected as it was quite busy). Shop: Before leaving, we bought a lot of mini jams and gift sets for souvenirs. A nice range of preserves and condiments, plenty of stock. Staff were lovely and helpful, and provided cardboard boxes for our purchases. Thanks for the lovely review - we're so pleased you had an enjoyable visit. All delicious and service was fast. Pot of Ginger+Lemongrass Tea = $24.90. Shop: while here it’s advisable to check out the Jams, etc. there are limited run and exclusive new flavour jams that are not available in retail stores. Thanks for the lovely review! - SheridanMelbourne, Australia5 contributionsDon’t miss seeing Beerenberg Farm at Hahndorf!A big thank you to the team at Beerenberg Farm! We celebrated our sister Yvette’s 80th birthday there today and the staff could not have been more helpful. They helped us put up huge number 80 balloons and didn’t mind me fussing around with table decorations. We all enjoyed our meal and I organised waffles topped with ice cream and other assorted delights as the birthday cake. It was a truly delightful afternoon and one we’ll remember for a long time. Such a wonderful place to go to enjoy the ambience and the food and I cannot commend the staff enough on their customer service and attention to detail. Thanks for your lovely review! - Petrina KAdelaide, Australia85 contributionsPerfect way to spend the afternoonAbsolutely wonderful high tea We experienced the high tea and it was wonderful. The quality of the food was first class, with delicious flavours and locally sourced ingredients. The staff were so lovely and the chef came out and spoke to every table, which was a nice touch. There was a nice balance between sweet and savoury and you can take home any leftovers. We were so full we didn’t need dinner. We have experienced high tea at the Ritz in London, and Beerenberg was on a par,and in some cases better. My only small and minor suggestion for improvement would be having bottles of table water available to top up yourself, rather than keep asking the lovely staff for top ups. It would also be nice to have available more than one tea or coffee included in the price. Very minor points and didn’t detract from our afternoon. We will definitely be booking in again. Thanks for the lovely review, we're so pleased to learn that we're on par with the Ritz in London - a huge compliment. I'll be sure to pass your feedback on to the team.Written 11 August 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 10 August 2024

Dropped into the Beerenberg shop to check out the range of goodies on offer. The decor of the store was relaxing and colourful with the products grouped and arranged to catch the eye. The best part of the store was having the full range of jams, preserves, pickles, cooking bases and multi-packs to make my selection from, something I have not seen before. Large sized punnets of fresh strawberries were also for sale; first and second grade quality. I can highly recommend the second grade strawberries which were actually tastier than most supermarket bought punnets. While I was pleased with my purchases I was a little disappointed to then see the same jams for sale at the same price in a small local supermarket close to our holiday accommodation in Adelaide; there was no discount for buying at the farm.

First visit. Always driven past, but stopped this time. Great produce shop, full of their jams, sauces, honey etc, can even buy a fresh strawberry ice cream, but oh so surprised that a place of this reputation had no cafe. With all the strawberry produce, jams, chutneys etc, I was definitely expecting to be able to sit down and sample the produce. Scones jam cream with coffee, strawberries and ice cream, cheese platters featuring local cheese and Beerenberg cheese condiments. This is what I was looking for, What a waste of a marketing opportunity. So I was very disappointed. As recent rain had ruined the strawberry picking there was nothing to do but to walk around the shop, and walk out.

Thanks for coming in and visiting - we are glad we finally lured you in!
As a small family business there is much to consider when planning for a (hopefully) long term future.
Over 100K people come through our beautiful little farmshop each year and whilst they can taste all our products, we have wanted to offer a richer experience for quite some time.
Now that we have moved our production kitchen from the shop building to a brand new building, we finally
have the space we need to build the cafe we have planned for years.
Come back soon. Late 2020 is the plan!

Totally loved my visit, from the strawberry picking to the history wall, to the cafe and the shop. Customer service was exceptional, the lady that looked after me with my entry & purchases was particularly helpful & friendly 😊
Happy to pay the patch $5 entry fee and the cost of the strawberries. Good value for the experience & fresh strawberries picked with my own hands, and even allowed to sample a few whilst picking! ( a good idea is to check the website for picking availability)
Delicious cafe items, the pies are home style & totally yum, it came with a leafy salad and the most tasty strawberry mayo. The scones are gorgeous and come with 4 dollops of Beerenberg jams in different flavours, and thankfully enough cream to down it all with. A fresh leaf pot of chai tea ended a perfect meal. Service was efficient given how very busy it was at lunchtime.
The shop offers many types of savoury recipe bases, which were new to me. The jams with lavender/violets in the ingredients are truly special. Had the most beautiful time there, they have the Beerenberg experience so right, and I can’t wait to go back! ❤️

Thank you so much Karen for your wonderful review, we truly appreciate it. So glad you were able to spend some time here, strawberry picking, enjoying our cafe and a bit of shopping. Our new winter menu with lots of yummy treats, plus our wood fireplace make our cafe a very cozy winter experience right now. Do come again!

The Beerenberg Farm is a nice place to visit if you want fresh strawberries. The place was very busy and the staff friendly. The only small issue was the staff member who served us did not advise us where the strawberry patch was for picking... we ended up finding it ourselves!
I also agree with "Anne P"... where is the cafe? With so much tasty produce, they really need a great cafe so you can sample what you are potentially going to buy!

I think we went on the opening day of the season and so did everyone else! There was plenty of ripe strawberries and the kids had a ball picking them and took no time to fill our box. We paid $5 per adult and the box was free and the strawberries are weighed on the way out and charged $10.95 per kg. Very sweet and delicious strawberries and you are sure they are fresh!

Great family activity to be able to pick your own strawberries! Staff were friendly and efficient in dealing with so many customers. The shop also has ready picked strawberries at reasonable prices for those unable to hand pick themselves. Of course many other products are also for sale, some which are provided by other local producers.

I really love this activity and so does my granddaughter! You pay around $5 each and head across the road to taste and pick for yourselves the most amazing tasting strawberries you can imagine. The farm store is packed with their huge range of top quality jams (Strawberry is the best) and sauces. Great Australian producer!

myself and my family were staying in Hahndorf and decuded to go strawberry picking at Beerenberg Farm.
The cost of $4 each to enter was very reasonable and trays were supplied to hold picked strawberries.
After a short walk to the straberry patch you can pick as many straberries as you like paying for them by the kilo.
We had never been before and it was so much fun looking for the biggest strawberries we could find and there were some whoppers!!!

So impressed with the site development and loved the clever decor and the imaginative cafe menu that has something for everyone - young and old, a little hungry or a lot hungry!!! Initially some of the dishes seemed slightly elevated in price but when you see the generosity of those servings and the lovely ingredients you realise why!
Everyone one in our six person group loved their chosen dishes (particularly the boys enjoying the great spice on the chicken burgers) and all actually had a hard time making decisions from lots of variety. Although no one ultimately chose one, we were really impressed by the idea of the range of pies/pasties containing the Beerenberg meal sauces - Sticky Asian Pork etc etc - very clever…..will have one next time for sure! The lemon meringue waffle was like a tower so bring a friend to help with that if you were down that sweet path!

The farm has a very good shop, stocked with lots of delicious-looking preserves, jams and other items. Some of the products are packaged in gift-box style containers.
We had a bit of fun at the strawberry picking, but were a bit put off by the $5 entry fee per person (one of our party is disabled and unable to pick, but still had to pay $5 to watch the others). The strawberries themselves, though, were plump and delicious.

Strawberry season is from October to April so patch is closed but the shop where they sell jams and other produce would be open..you can always call then before hand.

1. do you have a restaurant in your Farm
for a lovely lunch or afternoon tea?
2. do we have to make reservation for
picking for a group of 10?
3. how long can we pick? is there a time
limit?
Written 4 March 2016
No Restaurant at the farm there is a shop were you can buy products from.
Yes you can take you time picking the strawberries and I'm sure you don't have to book for 10 people hope that helps.
Picking strawberries in morning would be cooler

Hi,
We are a team of dragon boaters, 10 of us from the Breast Cancer Foundation Singapore (BCF Paddlers in the Pink) coming to Adelaide's West Lakes Regatta Course for a dragon boat race, The Club Crew World Championship 2016 from 29 Mar to 3rd April. We are planning to tour Adelaide after the Race.
We will probably be driving over on the 5 April to your Strawberry Farm for a picking and tasting as it is highly recommended.
However there are a few questions I hope you could help.
1.How far is it from Barossa Valley ? We will be spending the night at Barossa on the 4 April.
2. Do we have to make a reservation ahead for 10 of us for picking?
3. Is morning picking better then afternoon?
4. Do you have a nice restaurant in your Farm where we can have a lovely lunch or afternoon tea?
5. How much time to we need in the Farm for our planning purposes as we would like to spend some time touring and shopping at Hahndorf Village and finally catching the ferry to Kangaroo Island at 6pm.
Appreciate your replies soonest possible.
Thank you very much.
Cheers,
Jean Leng

I'm a local reviewer and don't represent Beerenberg. A morning pick is coolest and allow about 1.5 hours for the experience. My recommendation would be to have a meal in Harndorf (it is beautiful township). There are many German style pubs - our favourite is the German Arms (recommend booking!) and there is also a lovely bakery (Otto's) - leave time after lunch to explore the township . It would be over an hours drive from the Barossa Valley (possibly closer to 1.5 hours depending on how far north you are staying). It would be about 1.5-2 hours drive to the ferry terminal from Harndorf. Good luck with your regatta and welcome to Adelaide!
