Because the history in Australia is rather young, a lot of abandoned buildings are considered as historic buildings or heritage site. Ofcourse they are, but in other countries these would not be considered as specail.

Past Quorn and on our way to explore the Flinders Ranges we stumbled upon the ruins and cemetery of Kanyaka. What an amazing site... Along the Explorers Way there are many ruins of former stations and settlements but this one is arguably the most remarkable....More

A real walk back into the past that is both fascinating and also sad. To wander through the ruins of what was once a thriving homestead community supporting many families gives a sense of the hardship endured. Add that hardship to the cemetery across the...More

Interesting place to visit which gives you an idea on what it was like for the first white settlers who came to this area to farm. It also has a very nice creek with lovely gum trees.

Just off the main raod. Amazing ruins of what must have been a very civilised and thriving hub in the 1860s and 1870s. We heard that 70 families used to live in the area. The buildings are substantial.
