After having seen several larger aboriginal paining sites, this one is not particularly spectacular. The track from the parking area is not difficult. First you arrive at an overhanging rock without paintings. A little further are the paintings. Without descriptions it is difficult to distinguish...More

I wonder how the painters found these rocks in the first place? They really are in the middle of a vast landscape that you couldn't imagine would hide these gems. About a half hour walk from the carpark, a short drive from Rawnsley Park Station....More

The walk to the rock is about 30 minutes in each direction ( Maybe longer going anticlockwise) but for any reasonably fit person, it should take no longer than 70 minutes return (including photo stop) Give it a go and appreciate our indigenous culture. Truely...More

As we've travelled outback Australia quite a bit I would say this art work is not amazing would be better with signage explaining what they mean.

One of the main reasons why you should visit the Flinders Ranges. The native art is stunning, something everyone should see. The walking time says 2hrs return but you can do it comfortably in less. Take water and wear comfy clothes and shoes.

Arkaroo Rock is a loop walk. The walk says about 1 hour to the Rock art, but it will probably take less depending on your fitness. Glad we wore trainers and a hat! The paths are quite easy to follow - meandering along a creek...More

Difficult to get too excited about Arkaroo Rock and its rock art. This is a relatively rough 1-2 hour walk that my wife did not particularly appreciate. There are lovely views back to the east and up on the escarpment of Wilpena Pound. The rock...More

We took the hike (very mild one) to the rock and it was worth the small trek. The paintings are really good and if you haven't seen many before, then do yourself a favour and have a look. The hike is a little testy at...More

A lovely walk just before you enter the Flinders Ranges National Park! Stunning scenery along the way to the rock as welk as on the walk back to the carpark. The walk itself is an absolute pleasure with the art an added bonus. Just go...More
