Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well the place looks impressive and when you walk in you are hit by a room full of multicolored bottles of hooch. Yes you can taste them all except the champagne. Trouble is you have to go around and look and try to remember what you want to taste. I didn't taste the wines as I thought them a bit pricey so I can't comment on them. The liqueurs are legion and there is sure to be one to your taste. I did try a whisky and it had a caramel aroma and taste, no not the whisky liqueur, the single malt whisky. I am not sure about the credentials of it. You can get it from 2 years upwards and a concomitant increase in price. So if you are after some fancy liqueurs it is a good stop. More refined alcohol taste and decide after all everyone's taste is different.

Great visit to this place. Cedric was a wonderful host and let us sample all his wares. The Liquers were excellent. It was difficult to choose the best. So we bought many.

The external castle is fitting for the internal vast array of liquers, fortifieds, rums and wiskeys.
Choosing is the difficult part while you talk with the knowledgable owners who have produced all kinds of delicious flavours.

We went to the Stanthorpe winery and bought a case of wines and spirits. Prices are a bit high, but the products tasted good. We were served by the owner Cedric.

We bought 3 bottles of the newly bottled Chambourcin wine. Tasted great.

Unfortunately, a week after we returned home, having stored the wines flat and in a relatively cool area, we chanced upon a disaster. One of the Chambourcin bottles had exploed! Literally. Wine everywhere. Plus we found that the other 2 Chambourcin bottles had badly leaked, even though the screw caps were securely on.

On inspection, we can see that the wine has oxidised badly. Lots of bubbles and it now tastes bad.

We emailed the winery owner (twice), with pictures but got no reply. Very poor customer service.

I expected at least a "very sorry to hear about your loss, please ensure you store our wines at the correct temperature". But nothing. Ziltch.

Wine bottles should not explode. There must be a fault with the wine, bottles, bottling or screw caps for this to happen.

We won't be going back there again.

On reflection, given that they have such a large product line of wines and spirits, I suspect they are catering more for the masses and tourists, rather than serious wine drinkers and collectors.

Impressive building. Stopped to take a look around.
Unfortunately we don’t drink alcohol.
We received a lecture from the manager/owner about the merits of nonalcoholic drinks. We had already purchased some soft drink, fudge and peanut brittle, which wasn’t worth the money spent on it.
Hopefully the alcohol is better, but that’s a personal choice.

Beyond disgusting. Tacky, pathetic and hateful. Piled up IT gear, tucked away in the corner, not hard to see. Delightful 70's sofas strewn around, cleaned once, in 1970. The liqueurs are OK, but don't waste your time. Pathetic attempt at ripping off tourists.

Was driving in the area and didn’t expect to see a castle so decided to venture in and see what was to offer. All the wines, liquers are made on site and no preservatives, all ingredients are locally sourced. You can taste test any of their products before you buy and they have a wide range of products. We paid by cash and the staff were very friendly and helpful with choosing what to taste. Highly recommend

We had researched online before visiting Stanthorpe and almost didn't go to Castle Glen after reading the reviews. We decided to give it a try and we are so glad that we did. The lady and the gentleman who were working were lovely and helped us choose some liqueurs to try.

It is just eye-opening, there are rows and rows of different liqueurs, ciders, wines etc. The flavours are amazing and there is so much variety.

They do not accept cash as legal tender with rude staff. Will definitely not support nor recommend it at all
