This place came recommended by the Nindigully Hotel, and it did not disappoint. Cellar door very comfortable, free tastings, we were served by Jock, one of the family that owns and runs the winery. Very knowledgeable. Very helpful. Our palate was towards the moscatos, red and white, as well as a beautiful liqueur muscat. Prices reasonable, wine quality was very good. There were discounts available for purchases of 3, 6 or 12 bottles. There is also an outdoor cafe, eating area Which we did not try, but it looked good and the menu was attractive. Well worth a visit.

We tend not to attend wineries because the prices they charge for their "boutique" offering are invariably higher than for a comparable vintage from a more well-established vintner. However we wanted to see this vineyard, Queensland's westernmost, and only 3kms on sealed roads from the town centre. We duly made the short trip and were delighted to see the "homestead/cellar" in the midst of lushly green, mature trees, with tables and chairs dotted about. So it was clearly time for Devonshire Tea ($20.00)! We needed no persuasion to enjoy the scone with thick cream and home-made grape jam which was viscous and thickly wonderful. And all the while taking in the lush greenery of our surrounds under the shade of a huge tree in the garden. An oasis it most certainly was!

Went on a tour of a cotton farm and this winery. The tour was fabulous, so informative with so much history about the area. The tour was for 5 hours including a lovely lunch and wine tasting for only $50 each. Well worth the price and would highly recommend. And the wine was devine!!! Walked away with quite a few purchases! Snow (cotton farmer) and David (winery) were great hosts.

Thanks Millers for taking the tour and your positive review. Great feedback like yours tells us we are on the right track. I will pass onto Sno and our VIC. Until next time spread the word and hope you can visit again one day. Regards David

We had made good time getting to St George and decided to head to the winery for a cheeky wine tasting and some afternoon tea. Riversands winery is the most western winery in QLD and has some unique challenges in growing their grapes but still manage to make a number of really nice products.
After I was highly entertained by the bus of senior citizens who had had one too many wine tastings, we entered the bar area and were greeted by Estef. Estef told us tastings were free and proceeded to offer a generous taste of all 12 different alcohols they make. Now I know why the grannies were having such a good time!
I really enjoyed the different Moscatos and liqueurs and Noel enjoyed the port because he is turning into an old man. We ended up purchasing 7 bottles of alcohol here, so they must be doing something right. We enjoyed some afternoon tea in their garden cafe and then headed back into town to see what else we could find.
Pro tip: Drive very slowly up/down the driveway here, as down several rows of grapes we spotted lots of wildlife including Kangaroos, Cockatoos and an Emu.

We attended Easter at the Vines. David and his family and staff were amazing hosts. Great wine selection, Easter egg hunt for the kids. Live band Missing Link were very entertaining and had everyone up dancing.
We were seated under an olive tree, it was just perfect.

A 4 hour bus tour packed full of information given by very knowledgeable people. Harry, our guide knows all there is to know about cotton and is sharing his knowledge in a pleasant way. David from Riversands winery is also very pleasant and knowledgeable. Lunch provided was abundant and tasty. Wine tasting generous. I had a great time and I won a bottle of wine, so was pretty satisfied with my day.

Spent a lovely morning at Riversands on the 10th of January. Had a delicious morning tea of a cheese platter with Riversands own Grape Chutney (yum) whilst my family had pikelets and scones with Riversands Grape jam and fresh cream and a brownie. We ate in the shade of their beautiful gardens. Service was prompt and friendly and food was delicious (as was the coffee!)
I then had a tasting of the Riversands white and red wines as well as their ports. Our host (a young French lady) was accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. We ended up buying a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of "FGP"port (so nice) and a jar of their Grape jam.
Highly recommended!

Went here for lunch and highly recommend it. Delightful vineyard with palm trees lining the drive. Lovely garden areas to sit and eat or drink. Limited lunch menu but very nice food and well priced. The wine is good too.
Riversands hosts events with musical evenings and community plays etc (eg Best Little Whorehouse in Texas this week).
Locals go here for lunch - can’t get a better recommendation than that.

Absolutely wonderful tour giving us an understanding of the area in terms of agriculture. Enjoyed a cheese platter and wine tasting around the outside fire pit. Loved that the wines were named after significant characters from the area with their story on back of the labels. A must do in St George?

Is there a good camping area nearby..... walking distance?

Yes I believe so, A few people I bumped into on the sunset river cruise were staying nearby, unfortunately I am not sure of the name of it.
