Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped into the Federal Hotel for lunch after visiting Kronosaurus Korner.
They provide nice pub style meals which are reasonably priced.

Staff were friendly and the service was prompt.
Located about the mid point of town on the corner of Harris and Goldring Street, opposite the Post Office.

It was 50c in the shade when we left the dinosaurs. We walked into the pub and had a cold beer, and another and an other. It was the place to be.

We visited this pub for another taste of great country hospitality. The beer was cold and served with a smile & a chat around the bar. The counter meals are cheap but excellent ( and huge).

One of the best pub meals I have eaten. Ordered the lamb chops with a topper of onion rings. It could have fed at least 2 of us! 4 lamb chops, salad, chips and enough onion rings to be a full serve. The food was delicious, service was great and definitely recommend a stop here.

Well walked in today and waited 10 minutes before anybody came to us but they saw us when we walked in. Eventually came to the counter and we asked for a counter meal. She looked at the time and said no lunch meals are finished and go to the cafe. We asked about the other pub down the road and she said if you want to go there go.
Got to the Mud Hut hotel and the people there were so happy to serve us and we had the best lunch and chat. Thanks to Mud Hut for saving us.The only rude person in Richmond is at the Federal Hotel. The town people are beautiful. Well done Mud But!

Very bad customer service. Stood at bar and was ignored by staff. Ended up walking out. Booked dinner that night and waited for hour and a half for meal.
Today wanted to buy a slab of beer. Ignored by staff again. Waited half hour to pay for it. Had two other customers served before me. Not happy.

Went here as for a quick meal and a few drinks on a road trip, would not recommend to my worst enemy. The food came out cold and they forgot a meal when we tried to approach them about the forgotten meal the bar staff would not acknowledge us. 20 minutes of direct eye contact and saying “excuse me” the staff still wouldn’t talk to us. However I learned a small trick if you get a large sum of cash and place it on the counter then slam a glass on top of the pile the staff will then accept your existence and respond to basic questions. Ended up getting another meal for the person they forgot 3 doors down the road, might be worth checking that place out first.

Great pub with lots of character. Lovely food. The meat is bought locally and there are different specials every lunch and dinner time. Staff are welcoming, friendly and always happy to have a chat. Over the bar prices very reasonable and there are monthly specials for takeaway alcohol too. Would definitely recommend!!

Tourists do your hard earned cash a favour and go to the mud hut hotel.
This federal palace is serving shocking food.
I had a T-bone. I asked RARE.
I got an overdone piece of meat.
The 'steamed' vegetables came straight from a frozen bag from the local spar.
Disgusting!
The other dinner had the special "southern style " chicken
The crumbed chicken was so salty it should have been called southern salt chicken. Won't waste yr time with the salad and chips that came with that!

The sad thing is that yesterday we went to the other pub (mud hut) and had the abdolute surprise of a wonderful meal.

But the caravan park lady who obviously has no idea and no palate told us this was her favored eaterie

Some people should never give advice!

A typical old QUEENSLAND pub with cold beer and great pub food. Do yourself a favour and drop in and say g’day to “TOM” or if you are a rugby league fan - Jacob Lillyman’s mum. The pub is a mixture of Queensland state of origin memorabilia and whatever team jacob is playing for so this year it’s the knights. Warm friendly outback service with traditional counter meal menu in the main bar and great steaks. It also has a bottleshop for takeaways. Thanks for making me feel welcome Tom :)
