Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just WOW!! Myself and my partner have just completed a 6 month trip around Australia and rafting on the Millstream river with Daz was one of my favourite memories (if not my favourite)!
If you want to immerse yourself into the the real Australian bush and experience the true beauty that this stunning country has to offer please please add this experience to your bucket list.
I would highly recommend giving rafting a go if you want to try something new and get out of your comfort zone. I had never done rafting before so I really did not know what to expect, but I was completely surprised (and annoyed that I had never tried before!!)
The location is absolutely breathtaking. Spending an afternoon rafting down the millstream River, surrounded by savannah on one side and rainforest on the other, really is something to experience yourself because my words just cannot do it justice. Not only that, but Daz our guide really made the experience amazing for us. He has a genuine love and passion not only for rafting but for Australian nature and wildlife and that really made a difference for us. We learned so much and walked away from the experience with an even greater respect for this wonderful planet. He gave us both the confidence to push ourselves to try bigger rapids and we felt completely safe and in control with Daz guiding us.
There are many tours in and around Cairns and the Tablelands that we tried, but Savannah Adventures really stood out for us. It is definitely a more personal experience and not your typical tourist tour and that is something not very many businesses have to offer these days. Savannah Adventures really is a gem and we’ll be back for another spin down the Millstream with Daz the next time we’re in Cairns.
Go with an open mind and adventurous heart and you wont be disappointed!!

What an experience!! I was a bit apprehensive trying this for the first time but it was a blast!
Confident and reassuring, Daz was just awesome at making us feel we were capable of making it through every rapid.
Never felt unsafe but instead felt exhilarated.
Beautiful scenery surrounding us the whole time, and frequent lulls where we could chat and talk about what we were feeling and what was coming up.
Thank you so much for a fantastic trip!

My mate and I had heard through friends of this adventure. We are both kayak / raft enthusiasts & grumpy old men - so we're hard to please.
We weren’t left disappointed. It’s a Grade 2/2+ adventure on the Millstream (one of the sources of the Herbert River).
Daz was our guide for the half day and we started out in a beautiful billabong which would be an awesome wild camping spot!
A short paddle round the corner and we met our first wildlife - platypus. The river is teaming with small fish and the birds, breeze and bimble of the flow are all you can hear other than yourselves.
Many of the rapids involve slowing it down to get through the tight turns - expect a wet bum and a nice cool flow on your legs if you take a wrong turn.
Tight corners, squeezes, a little nudge and a shuffle and we were through most of the rapids. There's one portage (walk around) because of the technicality of it.
As soon as we left the car at the road, we did not see any man made structures (other than a rope swing) until we got to the end which was a fantastic experience being able to just immerse yourself in nature and the flow of the water.
I'm definitely keen to try out the second half of the river but will need to save it for another time.

Hi Sean, we are so glad you had a nice time paddling down the Millstream and met some of the cutest local wildlife, there sure is a lot to see.
The wet season is about to start in North Queensland and the 'Bureau' are predicting plenty of rain. We hope to see you again soon, when the river is refreshed and flowing abundantly. An o/n camp before a 6am start sounds like an excellent idea, we know some really good spots too. The night sky is spectacular, and the changing colours at sunrise are especially worth the effort of an early morning paddle through this ancient, volcanic landscape.
So, the next time you feel like getting away from it all, you are most welcome.
and
Thank You for the amazing review.
We'll see you again soon.
Angie.
