Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great museum with a surprising number of aircraft in a large hangar. Excellent replicas of some original vintage aircraft and real examples of more modern ones. Only need about 90 mins as it’s quite small but I recommend a visit.

Excellent place to visit. Lots of aircraft on display. Pictures don’t do them justice. You have to see the real thing to appreciate them. Everything is up close. You can go inside a Chinook, touch a Black Hawk, see how an Iroquois operated. Loads of interactive displays, videos to watch. Display includes uniforms, guns, medals. There’s even a piece from the Red Baron’s airplane.
We spent two hours there, could have easily spent more.
Outside is BBQs, picnic tables, clean toilets, so you could bring lunch and make a day of it.
Best part is it’s free! We bought stuff at the gift shop and made a donation because we couldn’t believe something of this calibre is free

What brilliant display of army aviation spanning the period from WW1 to Afghanistan. The exhibit contains many aircraft from all-throughout the period mentioned above., some interactive experiences and a wealth of personal stories from service personnel. it is educational for adults and kids alike. Ever been inside a Chinook heavy lift helicopter? Well here you can.

What an eye opener this place is! What a wealth of knowledge does Scott the Curator of the Museum have. How entertaining is he in his delivery of a conducted tour of the facility. Simply FANTASTIC.
Wish we had more time to inspect it in more detail. Thank you for an enjoyable morning.

I checked the website for opening hours and days before trekking all the way out to the location. Arrived 2 p.m. on an open day but found the gate locked and no signs to indicate why it was closed or when it would be open. Very annoying.

If Army Aviation is your bag then the museum is an absolute must see attraction. Because the focus is on Army Aviation the displays concentrate on the WWI and other conflicts post WWII. The machinery and weaponry is breathtaking. Replicas are very well crafted and the original aircraft are well preserved. Some access inside these craft is possible. The adjoining showroom is also brilliantly prepared.
A credit to all who have put this museum together.

Relatively easy to find, ample parking and snacking opportunities in Oakey itself. Just decided to go out and have a look as we had just visited the new Toowoomba private airport nearby. Blown away by the most comprehensive display of Australian army military aircraft you will find plus a lot of additional historical memorabilia to contemplate; only thing missing was a Black Hawk helicopter, guess this will eventually arrive. Cheapest entry fee of any similar venue in the area plus drinks etc at prices you not see elsewhere, clean toilets nearby. A must see!

I went here with work but will be going back with the family. I recommend the tour. It is only $3 and it was great. It went for 2 1/2 hours and was informative and funny. Scott the curator was so knowledgeable, I could of listened to him all day. We didn't expect to be there as long as we were. If you don't do the tour you are missing out. It would be easy to just read the signs and not get a full appreciation of the display they have there. So many great stories from the curator!!! Loved it and will be taking the family soon.

You will need to go back to the township of Oakley where there are plenty of eating options; maybe book first on the way to the museum. Museum has soft drinks available at very good prices.
