About
The Miles Historical Village Museum and Visitor Information Centre is open from 8.30 am until 4.30 pm every day except Christmas Day. The facility is located on the eastern entrance to Miles on the Warrego Highway. The Museum features over 34 original and replica buildings set in a streetscape reminiscent of a town from the late 1800s. Each building houses their own special collection. The facility also contains a War Museum containing photographs, stories, militaria from the Light Horse in WW1 through to the Vietnam War. The Norman Donpon Lapidary display houses a remarkable collection of fossil woods, ferns, fine agates, crystals and minerals from around the world. This facility takes the visitor on a nostalgic and surprising journey through the lives of the people of the district who lived, worked and socialised in this region. Each year thousands of visitors are impressed by the Historical Village Museum, it's collections and displays. An experience not to be missed!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This spot is amazing! Set up like an olden day town you can wander around as long as you like and it had so many things to look at it would take 10 visits!

I did the Museum at Sunset with a guide. The variety of items and building was fantastic. It is set like a village and the scenery is beautiful. Highly recomend this if you are going through Miles.

There have been many other static historical and recreation locations we have visited around Australia, but this on stood out as a winner. Immaculately clean and tidy and with the added capacity to actually touch items on exhibit. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The obvious devotion of the volunteers in maintaining and cleaning was so evident, and from the look of it the facility will increase.

This is an historical village that is extraordinary in its detail and breadth. It is a huge collection set in original old buildings from the surrounding area and xhock full of memorabilia. There is also a mix of modern with an interactive media display on the Great Artesian Basin in an air-conditioned theatre. Entry fee also allows multiple visits over a number of days for the one fee. You may need it! A must see in Miles.

We were amazed at the quality of the exhibits and the large variety both new and old.
The cleaner and maintenance man does a great job here.

Good but a tad pricey for mind. Also go early in the morning during warmer months as many building excessively warm especially the lapidary and shell house which I would have loved to have spent more time in however they were just far to unbarely hot.

I thoroughly enjoyed looking around this historical museum. There was every category displayed eg, bakery, hospital, war times and my favourite - the school. The reason for this is I saw the old reading and copy books I used to use at school! Made me feel old! 😂 My entrance fee included seniors discount which I appreciated. Staff were friendly and very informative. Please don’t miss this museum while in Miles.
