Maroochydore Event Cinemas really needs some TLC.
The seats and carpets smell of sweat and mould, very dirty and uncomfortable to sit in.
They charge the same price as the new Event Cinemas in Kawana and do not offer the same experience.
I’d suggest a good renovation and replacement of carpets and seats.
On a plus side, they offer express pre purchased ticket machines which is easier than lining up at the snack bar to purchase tickets.
The cinema at Nambour has cheaper tickets and is in better condition.

Cinema these days is an expensive trip for a family. Today we went to watch Jumanji and cinema 1 had a strong odour of mould. I know this as I get asthma from mould and it flared my asthma up.
The doors of the cinema were open so we were getting lots of noise from an adjoining Cinema.
Men’s toilets need some attention too. I think I’d try the new ones at kawana next time, unless something changes.

Went to play one of side show machines when you first walked in and the machine only went sideways not upwards so I already lost my money. 3$ yes not much but it definitely defeats the purpose. No sign saying out of order! Bulls***. Won’t even be going back for a movie if that’s what is waiting for me at the front door. Poor like dog s***

Easy to find and easy to park at Sunshine Plaza. Buy tickets on line or at the door. Doors open 10 minutes before. Comfy seats. Snacks at bar. My helpful tip is book seats in the middle for the best views. Plenty of restaurants and cafes outside to dine after.

Good range of movies with so many options to choose, sure to find something of interest, comfortable seats although not the atmosphere of say the Palace or Dendy theatres.
Biggest problem is the difficulty of parking and meandering through the Plaza itself.
Saw The Joker which is one of those movies with divided opinion; you either love it or hate it although the acting was superb.

12 cinema complex. Good Sound and picture quality. Seats were comfortable-ish. Free parking after 6 pm or an extra hour (4 hour free) before hand. Large foyer area and candy bar area. Seats and cinemas were clearly numbered. There were no Gold class cinemas. Varying Restaurants just outside cinema if you want a feed before or after. Cheaper tickets at this cinema compared to Kawana. Happily see another movie at this cinema.

There was a time up until 1993 when there was a single cinema on Horton Pde (where ANZ now stands) to meet the needs of the moviegoing public. In 1993 they opened a 6 cinema complex in Sunshine Plaza and expanded out to the 12 we now have in 2002. My mum worked there during this time and I got free tickets and become an avid film buff.
The cinemas are comfortable and given the number of screens there is usually something for all tastes (they showed ‘The Favourite’ on Boxing Day where other cinemas didn’t), there is a cafe, electronic self-service ticket station for online orders, and there are plenty of eateries just nearby if you want to avoid the overpriced candy bar offerings. The cinemas are part of the Event Group so the Cinebuzz Rewards offers apply.

BCC have a phone contact number that is only a recorded message and refers the caller to the web site. When the appropriate section of the contact form is completed a message is produced that says "if you are not a robot try again". After 5 attempts I gave up. Very poor customer service BCC. There is no way I could ever recommend your cinemas to anyone just from the safety aspect alone. Will never attend another BCC cinema again.
