- Glen BDeception Bay, Australia1 contributionDisappointed expecting moreThe birds were good but our guide was more interested in showing she could get the birds to come to her than talking about them and telling what they were . The picnic lunch was great value and very tasty The botanical garden were very disappointing and seemed to have a lot of work in process, not what we expected. Our golf cart also was faulty and speed up by itself and then stopped twice they had to come with a replacement as it was very dangerous on the steep hillsHi 984glenb Thank you for your review. We appreciate the feedback and have looked into it more. We did sustain quite a bit of weather damage last year which we are progressing through. We also have a few new projects introducing new areas to the gardens for our visitors. - lklumsden11 contributionGreat day outOur visit to the Maleny Bird World was so enjoyable. The scenery is fabulous, the Aviary tour is an absolute must - our tour guide was so knowledgeable and lots of photo opportunities. The variety of birds was incredible! There is also a Farm Animal section that is worth visiting, especially for younger children. There are lots of walking tracks to wander along or you can hire a buggy if you want. The cafe offers a good range of lunch or snack items which can be eaten overlooking the beautiful views the park offers.Hi lklumsden1 It's great to read you enjoyed your day. The Bird show was entertaining, the views lovely, great place for a picnic and the scones are amazing. The grounds are looking a little tired and need some TLC but great place to visitHi kymayling We’re happy to read you enjoy our day. We have experienced a staff shortage which we are rectifying. - Halz80New South Wales, Australia3 contributionsGardens not greatThe Botanic Gardens are not worth paying $20 to see but you can’t just pay to go into the Bird World. It’s $20 for the Gardens or $40 for Gardens & Birds, no option of just birds. There’s not much to see in the Gardens but the miniature farm animals are cute great for kids and the Birds are amazing. They’re mostly re homed parrots so it’s nice that they are being cared for and we’re happy to help fund that. The parrots up near the entrance are great to see too, the lady there is fantastic. The cafe did a great iced coffee! And the view is amazing.Hi Halz80 Thank you for visiting and for your feedback. We have quite a few projects on the go across the 18 acres of gardens at the moment. We’re excited to see these progress and finalise. - Frances N2 contributionsLovely morning at the gardens and aviary with friendsBeautiful gardens and aviary. I have a few suggestions for improvements: Lapel microphone for aviary guide. Signs in each aviary with pictures and names of birds - not sure if this is possible given that the birds may damage them but there may be a way to do it. Signs next to various plants naming them. The gardens are well maintained and the staff very friendly.Hi Frances Thank you for visiting us. Fantastic feedback thank you. There is a project underway for the botanical name signage and we'll definitely investigate your other suggestions as well. - Brian CBeerwah, Australia81 contributionsGreat collection of birds and brilliant views. At the time we attended a number of areas were under reconstruction and some areas in need of tidying up. This however did not distract us from the beauty of the gardens, and the exceptional views from the gardens of the Sunshine Coast. The staff were very informative and accommodating while conducting the tour of the aviaries. The birds were incredible. You would have to like the close contact with the variety of birds to fully enjoy it. The cafe has a good assortment of light meals and drinks.Hi Brian Thank you for visiting, we’re glad you enjoyed it. We’re excited for the projects in progress at the moment. - dearnermGold Coast, Australia1 contributionNot good enoughA buggy was booked per the website package. On arrival (20mins early) the staff were in a training meeting so we were told nobody was available to get the buggy out before the tour started and we would have to walk. Only got to see the bird park as my disability client was far too tired to see the rest of the park, also had huge delays with lunch and picnic basket which was also included in the package.Hi dearnerm This is absolutely not the experience we strive for and this is quite surprising to us. Our guide was informative and made sure everyone had a chance to get photos with the birds. The gardens are a little disappointing with not much to see at the moment as some areas are quite untidy with a lot of work in progress. Otherwise the grounds are lovely with great views and scenery. I'm sure the upgrading will be beautiful upon completion.Hi TraceyJ899 Thank you for visiting us. We’re glad you enjoyed the aviary tour. - Bruce02Sydney, Australia62 contributionsEnjoyed the AviaryWe got the seniors mid week package which was entry into gardens, buggy hire, aviary and Devonshire tea. Very impressed with the aviary which was well laid out, plenty of birds and a friendly, knowledgeable guide. Not much to see in gardens except for lovely views which we could also see free from a park on drive up. The buggy drive round gardens took 15-20 minutes although you get buggy for an hour. Devonshire tea took 30 minutes to arrive and then it had the wrong drinks. This was a Tuesday so I'd hate to see it when really busy at weekends.Hi Bruce02 We’re glad you enjoyed the aviary tour. Sorry to hear about your cafe experience. We have had quite a lot of new staff training in the lead up to the school holidays. Were you able to explore all the gardens? There is 18 acres with about 6kms of sealed pathways you can take the buggy around on. - erinkf27Brisbane, Australia1 contributionHot day. Birds did not want to come down. Felt we were rushed through. This was my sons birthday present. He absolutely loves birds. We have seen pics of the interaction people have with the birds there. Granted it was a hot day, and you can’t force living things to perform, but we had very little interaction and the birds sat so high up because of the heat. Perhaps enclosures with more shelter? For the price we paid, we were rushed through and I feel that the money would have been better spent at Australia zoo or the likes. My son got very little time to explore and see everything in the aviarys. Having said all of this, the staff were lovely and the grounds were ru well kept.Hi erinkf27 Thank you for visiting us. As you said, it’s unfortunate the birds were not in an interactive mood that day. We do try as much as we can to entice them but sometimes it doesn’t work. We do hope you give them another chance one day. Worthwhile visit. The bird sanctuary was a great experience, and the tour guide was so lovely 🤩 Glorious views. If you enjoy walking then there's plenty of it, with lot's of rest areas on the way, or you can hire a buggy to get around. The farm animals are super cute 😍

I was told about Maleny bird park and Botanic gardens by a friend. I wasnt disappointed. You are taken through the several aviaries in a small group so many gorgeous birds. Have photos taken with them. It truely was a great experience. All the staff were really helpful and friendly which was really nice. There was also an interactive farm animal area really clean and all animals so loved at this place
We then hoped on board our golf cart to cruise around the gorgeous gardens. It was great day we probably spent 4 hours here doing both the birds and park. We also enjoyed a devonshire tea & scone - the scone was huge, light and fluffy.
I also have to mention the view to the spectacular Glasshouse Mountains.
A great place to visit - Loved it!!

Having arrived mid morning we walked around the gardens admiring the beautiful flowers and shrubs. The garden is laid out over a steep hillside so there was buggies available and also handrails in some places. We chatted with the friendly volunteer gardeners and were very impressed with their hard work. This place is absolutely stunning with some amazing views over The Glass Mountains. We are glad we visited these gardens.

I just saw a post about the predator you have working at the bird sanctuary, is he still employed there. I hope not. we visited your gardens and loved it but i would be worried for any women including young girls visiting your bird sanctuary if this man is still employed or volunteers with you in any way. I think that a statement regarding this matter and a statement regarding the lady who made the post is the most professional thing that you can do. I assume maybe get some legal advice regarding this but i think that this is not something you should ignore and a comment is suitable. this person has been found guilty in a court of law. no matter what you think of him or the relationship you have with him, he is a predator of women.

They are very frequent - you should book the tour as soon as you arrive and then you can spend time either enjoying the gardens or having something to eat in the cafe. Definitely worth waiting for - particularly the interaction with the large macaws.
