Having the serving people stop to draw breath from their conversations with each other would be a reeeeeaaaally good start. We visited on a fine Friday afternoon, during the Lunch session and there were very few customers about. Getting the attention of the staff should have been easy... Now I think I understand why there were so few customers!

I had actually been attracted to the place on the promise of their smoked goods, which have been publicised locally for quite some time now, but not only could I not smell or see them, I couldn't get any answers.

Awesome little spot, well worth the beautiful roady from Cairns. Donna was great, very friendly and great service.
Spotted 3 platypus while we were there, so cool to see these little guys in their natural environment!
Cafe has a great, laid back country vibe, the beer and cider were delicious and ice cold, and seriously, I had the best hot dog I’ve ever had.

Third time visiting since 2018 and each time saw continuously at least one Platypus fully active. Truly a place to watch this magnificent odd looking creature in the wild. Can see it clearly when it pops up a few meters away. Make sure you put on the GPS ....at Tarzali Lakes so not to confuse with the other place with similar name. Nice Eatery with good selection of food. Good hospitality and atmosphere. About 10 minutes drive from Millaa Millaa Falls. Would definitely visit again when up there travelling. When at the viewing area (7 minutes walk from the Cafe), wait and look around. The Platypus pops up every few minutes. I did morning / noon each visit. There are chairs available at the viewing area. Took pics with my iPhone. Naked eye was more clearer than the pics due to the reflection. Taking Videos are more recommended. Of course a better professional camera and binoculars are recommended although again, the Platypilus occasionally pops up a few meters away and you can see it clearly.

We stopped here for lunch. Did not chose to pay to walk the grounds to view platypus. Menu was along the lines of burgers but they do cater for gluten free quite well. The food was good but a little on the expensive side.

We finally found this spot after a few challenges with google maps. Sorry to say we were disappointed. The venue is extremely run down. We had read reviews about the fabulous tasting menu, but unfortunately it appears this option is only available to tour groups. Staff were pleasant and the Barra burger we ended up ordering was good, just not what we had hoped to be eating. Platypus viewing was not promoted. We were short for time and so ate and left.

Just a serene place where you can sit and be entertained watching these little characters.

Being a wild attraction, I guess there is no guarantee to spot one, but I had my first sighting within 10minutes, which helped understand the signs to watch out for, availing numerous further far & near sightings.

A couple of benches there to sit an take it in, make enough time to relax and enjoy this opportunity

Absolutely worth the stop! We saw four or five platypuses in the span of maybe twenty minutes. Staff were very nice and helpful! It's a great stop on a road trip, and you get a beautiful drive through the Tablelands to go with it. Also got to give the pigs on property a little scratch and pat!

Fantastic experience. Knowing it wasn't guaranteed we'd see platypus we were so lucky to see 3 while we were there, the first within about 3 mins. The host, Donna, was so lovely and interested in us and our travels. Had lunch there after the platypus viewing, the food was amazing. So worth the visit

When coming to Australia, I just wanted to see platypus wild and the Sydney opera house. This is propably the best spot to see the platypus. Never realised, how small the animal is. Saw a few platypus and some turtles. The price is reasonable and the walk to the ponds is short enough. After you walk you can enjoy some drinks at the cafe, if you like. Lovely and peaceful place away from the crowds.

A wonderful, tranquil place to spent an hour or two. Immaculate spacious grounds that made for easy walking to view the platypus in their natural habitat. Plenty of wildlife.
Very friendly staff .The well set out spacious cafe offered a delicious menu . A great variety of locally smoked produce available to purchase. Came away very impressed and definately will be returning . Julie and Tony.
