Outback Pioneers invites everyone to come to Longreach and discover the heritage and pioneering spirit of outback Queensland. Step into pioneers shoes for holidays and experiences that entertain, educate and inspire. Owned and managed by the Kinnon family, Outback Pioneers reflects their love of the outback lifestyle and dedication to preserving it for future generations. Outback Pioneers is the only place in Australia you can gallop in a Cobb & Co stagecoach along part of an old mail route, see the Old Time Tent Show and much more. You can also take a sunset cruise on the Thomson River to a stockman’s dinner around the campfire plus visit the Kinnon’s historic, working Nogo Station where Captain Starlight kept his stolen cattle and where station life continues to defy drought and distance. In Longreach, The Station Store and The Welcome Home are further attractions and the Outback Pioneers booking office is in The Welcome Home building at 128 Eagle Street.

Very enjoyable
Solo disabled traveller (wheelchair). I was well looked after by all. An enjoyable trip. I especially loved the poetry.

We loved our river cruise dinner and a show. The bush poet was fabulous, we loved the food and met some great people. Highly recommend.

If you’re looking for a great get away for a week I highly recommend the coach inn. While I was there I did the stagecoach, nogo, and the boat cruise along the Thomson river. So many lovely staff here. You learn so much about the history of Longreach.

Great River Cruise

What a lovely peaceful way to see the Thompson River. The light was beautiful and the sunset very atmospheric. The stockman dinner round the campfire was very tasty and the bush yarns were very amusing. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was I wish we could have had more time on the river and gone a bit further.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We're very happy the serene atmosphere, beautiful light, and atmospheric sunset made for a memorable adventure. We appreciate your honest feedback about the time on the river. The cruise is carefully timed to arrive back close to the river camp as the sun is setting! It is a delicate balance to ensure we don't run late with the stockman's dinner and live entertainment.

Great outback adventure

I could not fault this evening with Outback Pioneers such a fantastic outback experience. Our tour was postponed to the following night due to weather so we were seamlessly taken the following evening. Paddy and Vern were the highlights of the evening but really everyone could not have been more engaging and helpful , the boat trip was amazing, food delicious, entertainment outstanding do yourself a favour and do this tour if you are in longreach you won't regret it and do the stonegrill as well YUM !!

Outback Pioneers organise your stay with top class accommodation at The Stables, pick-up to the River Cruise, walk across the road to the Stage Coach Ride and daily delicious Buffet Breakfast. Special Memories to keep always.

The Kinnon family & their team really do everything so well. They provide the perfect mix in every tour which is informative, funny & memorable.
Longreach would not be the same without their incredible input into their beloved town and region.

We did it all! Every tour with Outback Pioneers is worth doing. Five Stars.

My friend and I stayed in the very authentic and amazingly comfortable 'The Stables' accommodation in Longreach and each day, we went on tour with Outback Pioneers. Their organisation was excellent. Such a friendly, welcoming setup - from the first morning coffee served by Dominic, to breakfast with the lovely Diana in the dining room, we had no complaints. Richard Kinnon gave us an exciting ride on the stagecoach. His son Jeremy took us on an entertaining visit to Nogo Station, the family property. Vern drove us to a most enjoyable evening on the riverboat cruise. He also took us to the Dinosaur Discovery Centre in Winton, The Waltzing Matilda Centre and back in Longreach, the Australian Stockmans Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Museum. I think we saw it all! Highly recommend Outback Pioneers if you are thinking of visiting Longreach.
