We were looking forward to this experience since before we came to Cairns, and we were extremely impressed, such a great sanctuary built for the butterflies, to live and to breed and to be shown off, there were tour guides going around every now and...More

Make sure you just chill out and let the butterflies land on you to get the most out of the visit, kids will love it. My 13 year old was fascinated by the different varieties and they kept landing on her brightly coloured scrunchie..

Majestic, peaceful and welcoming. The butterflies 🦋 are beautiful and if you are very lucky, a few may choose to land on you! Such wondrous creatures and the sanctuary really look after them well including breeding on site. Definitely a must do attraction in Kuranda

Went into this place and it is like an exotic garden, kinda small but well priced and looks great for kids. Recommend you wear bright or florescent clothing as when moving slow the butterflies will land on you.

How labor intensive is it to 'breed' butterflies? Is it expensive to set up a butterfly sanctuary? What sort of capital would be required to start one up?
