Beautiful

Visited with the family & we were enthralled with all the butterflies. There were so many. It was good to also visit the education center to see how they gather the eggs.

Moderately interesting place to visit in Kuranda after a railway or cableway ride. Admission is approx. $20 (AUD) per person for adults. Lots of pretty butterflies, especially the green ones, but we were disappointed to find no blue butterflies (not developing successfully from their cocoons, according to a staff person). Always a thrill at these places to have a butterfly... More

Loved the Butterfly Sanctuary, it's been on my list forever! It's nice to admire the beautiful butterflies and take photos but that's it really, in and out if you're not walking with the tour guide.

We visited here as we were In Kuranda having made the trip up by Skytrain. Whilst I loved the enthusiasm of the staff member who gave us a talk and a tour I was rather disappointed. This is advertised as the largest butterfly light aviary and exhibit in the Southern Hemisphere, we spent an hour here and over half of... More

We really enjoyed the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and highly recommend the guided tour as we learnt a lot of interesting information. We also enjoyed just spending time in the sanctuary and having the butterflies land on us. They are so beautiful.

Overpriced and hardly any butterflies. Can walk the entire place in 10 mins. Ok if you have some spare time.

We visited the butterfly sanctuary today. Would highly recommend a late afternoon visit. We arrived at 2pm and attended the tour with Robin who has been working at the Sanctuary for 16 years. Robin is amazingly knowledgeable. By 2.45pm we were almost the only people in the Sanctuary and the butterflies started to land on us. It was a very... More

Breathtaking and special! You could literally feel the breeze of a butterfly's wing as it passed you or often surprisingly landed on you! Our small child was delighted with this visit. We were lucky to view a Hercules Moth coming out of a cocoon in the nursery. An educational experience as well. Worth every penny as it is a privately... More
