Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Yuck. Did not enjoy my time at this place at all. You walk through a fog of incense everywhere you go, and it’s full of hippy, Boho junk that will just end up in landfill. Markets is an incredibly generous word for this down and out dirty, stinky little town when nobody bothers to brush their hair or clean their teeth. Would have left straight away if I had a car but had to wait for the train. Do not recommend at all unless you want to catch a disease

Expensive driving by car.
Speed cameras on road to Kuranda.
Last trip cost me $431 and 3 demerit points.
The Department of Transport fee leaves a sour taste in any trip from Cairns or the Port to Kuranda.

Nice market place of all kinds of gifts and food. Frogs is here as well as Birdworld. Most of the stalls were open when we were there.

We went for a look dissapointed alot of repetitive products in the stalls. Colourful yes, would spend along time here, no. Insence very strong throughout the market. A bit over powering. I see now why other reviews say had its hay day. Go for a quick look expect crowds in the Karunda village cafes. 🫖🥤

All of the stalls should be open every weekend not when they feel like it.
You are told open from Friday to Sunday wrong.
So boring waste of time.

I loved the First Nation gentleman playing the didgeridoo - I absolutely adore the sound. Lots of stuff being sold around there. You can have a bite at a coffee shop or just wander around. Look for Fig Parrots in the trees above you.

Very disappointing compared to the happy memories I have from my visit in the early 1990’s. Not that many stalls (maybe a Covid impact), not a lot of enticement to browse, took about 5 minutes to get through. The Original markets nearby were equally disappointing unless you’re a hippie stoner. Would not recommend the effort, especially as it’s a long and very windy drive up and back to Cairns.

What a delightful place. There are so many funky shops here there is sure to be something for everyone. Most all shops were open and we really enjoyed every minute we spent here. There are several options to grab a bite to eat, so many in fact that it was hard to choose.
If you're an 'old Hippy' or just a Hippy at Heart or just a lover of Markets, you'll surely enjoy the kind of creativity displayed here.
Make sure you leave yourself enough time to take it all in, there is so much to see and experience here.

What a disappointment, we had heard so much about both Kuranda Markets and were surprised they did not live up to their name. If you like your hippie clothing, leather goods, opals/gemstones then this may please you. We did this market in about 15 minutes.

Myself personally I liked these markets, stalls wise, better than the Rainforest Markets (Rainforest Markets had a bit more character). These markets were more a traditional market to me, they had gifts & souvenirs to fruit & veg and clothing stalls. Were nice to walk around, the locals were all very friendly. A must if you're here is the Frog's Restuarant which is in the middle, awesome food at a reasonable price (I've written a separate review for them). This market is also the entrance to Birdworld & Koala Gardens... Overall I liked it and the kids had fun.
