While visiting my son & his family we decided to go to Kilcoy for lunch & we were all very impressed all 8 of us. Our meals were absolutely yummy & great value. We would reccomend The Exchange Hotel to anyone wanting a great Pub at a reasonable price.

Had a lovely meal and drinks with friends today at the Exchange. Not sure they are allowed to do this but I paid by eftpos separately for coffee first then our meals only to find when I got home and checked what I had spent today around Kilcoy with my bank that the following had happened at the Exchange....1. Four coffees were $20 but I was charged $20.16. 2. Two meals were $30 but I was charged $30.24. I didn’t see any signs up regarding extra charges for using eftpos. I know it’s only small change but it has really jacked me off and won’t go back there. We had travelled 96 klms to go there!

Exceptional country pub. Very popular at lunchtime on a Sunday. Had the 250g rump steak served blue. Was done to perfection as many chefs are not that great at preparing a blue steak. Could not fault this meal. The pricing for both food and drinks is very reasonable.
Has the smell and feel of a good pub. The service is very friendly and efficient.
If you are looking for a good feed; this is the place.

DONT EVER stay here ,
A last minute booking for Australia Day Long wk end , the accommodation part of the hotel really needs closing down due to health & safety, Filthy rooms thread beach carpets , our first room didn’t even have a sink , OK so you get what you pay for but there is a limit, I should of called and actually asked if there was en suits , my fault there , the furniture is about a 100 yrs old , our window had to be wedged open with a block of wood , there was a fan in room which was extremely noisy . Both us & our friends did manage to change rooms nxt morning which were slightly bigger & did have sinks with running water this time but still pretty gross , I would never never stay here again . My pics are of the second room so bear in mind the first room was way worse . The food in the restaurant were fine ya normal pub grub . Free buss to the races .

We've been to this pub several times, all have been positive visits until yesterday (26th Nov).
The positives - we were served by very friendly staff, especially the young guy taking lunch orders. A lot of hospitality staff could learn from him. The venue is clean, tidy and presents a relaxing environment. The dining room has a quintessential QLD country pub feel which is very inviting.
The negative - and there is only one, that being the food on this occasion. We ordered the schnitty, chips and salad as well as the rissoles, chips and salad. Schnitty was inedible, it tasted of fish and was well over cooked. I suspect old oil to be the culprit - it was nasty. The rissoles weren't much better, but edible. The side salad on both plates was below par. A kitchen sponge would have had more crunch than the lettuce.
I understand that dining experiences can't be top notch all the time but ours on this occasion was underwhelming. We're not going to avoid the place based on one bad experience, but they damn well better take note or lose customers like us.

What an amazing looking “pub” we thought on our daily travels from nearby Esk - checked the menu out on-line - looked promising. That’s where it ended! We ordered the Flounder, Chips & Salad, and my wife had the Linguine Pollo Pesto. The Pasta dish was soo bland we could have emptied the salt, and pepper shakers onto it for flavour. Also there were no spoons available for eating pasta, only a fork available for predominantly sauce, and little pasta/chicken, or anything solid really (felt like she had arrived at the old age home early is the best way to describe the whole thing )The Flounder was delivered to us as Flathead, and then when we said that’s not was ordered the waitress returned to the servery, and promptly returned saying it was
Flounder🤔 We expected a whole Flounder lightly dusted, not mass processed fish pieces that could be anything you so desired to call. MOST DISSAPOINTING meal in our 2022 travels. Certainly won’t recommend, or return!!

Great steaks cooked exactly as ordered and fast service. Friendly staff. Very roomy restaurant area and beer garden. A well thought out menu with wide variety of meals including salads, pizza, seafood and meat dishes.
The $15 rump steak special on Friday night was a real treat. Rounded off the night with a flutter in the gaming room. Fun Friday night vibe with a live band adding to the atmosphere.
My companion enjoyed his twice cooked duck.
There is a play area for children too.
Thanks for a top night out!

Stopped in to the Exchange for lunch enroute to camp grounds. It was our second choice as the first pub was renovating the kitchen.
Their only 2 GF meal choices were curry or salmon. The salmon was sold out so I had to order grilled chicken and garden salad at an extra cost for $26
No chips
Chips weren’t GF either
Then we were blown away to discover that not only did they not have almond milk, they didn’t even have any form of herbal or green tea.
Also of note is that the chef believes that sticking mushrooms into ordinary gravy is acceptable to serve as mushroom sauce.
So Exchange you can stay in your ignorance and keep losing 25% and growing number of your customers with intolerances or join the real world & supply the basics
Very primitive

We had a room with ensuite. Room was clean, shower water with hot and very comfortable bed and pillow. Cold air (in the middle of winter) but doona was more than adequate for a comfortable sleep (eg did try the aircon but it was too hot to sleep and not needed). Saturday night band was loud and patrons leaving were loud too, plus moving around tables etc near closure, so noise wise it was a bit annoying until around 12:30am, but if you plan to stay in the pub until closure, that should work for you (we went to bed too early). Night traffic was very minimal considering a main thoroughfare for the area but did get somewhat noisy after 6:30am. The food at the restaurant was very plentiful for a good price and was good quality. We were in a group of 2 dozen or so and most meals looked great (steak, ribs, chefs special chicken, lamb shanks etc). The chicken schnitzel was not a hot favourite. The music was good. Quite a large hotel considering a population of only 2000 people.

A great menu, steaks to perfection. Thursday night and the place was packed. My first thought was “we'll be waiting a long time for a meal” but no the meals were served quickly and the staff were pleasant and efficient. My and my sons rare steak exactly right as was my wife’s medium one. Prices very reasonable.
