Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The park is named in honour of an aboriginal Australian folklore being called a Yowie reputed to have roamed the hills of Kilcoy. The yowie is certainly memorable and the yowie statue in the park sticks in my mind from a school excursion out to Somerset Dam back in 1989. It was great to come back and see it 30 years later and take a relaxing walk through the lush green park, and around the lake filled with lillipads & water birds and read the interpretive signage re the history of the area. There is a craft store and historical museum adjacent to the park as well which looked interesting but was closed when I visited.

No Yowie’s but ducks and Ibis to feed. We love stopping here - grabbing a bun from the cafe across the road and feeding the birds. It’s a great break.

We were staying at a nearby motel and went for a walk to Yowie Park. It is a great park with a wonderful children's playground, picnic tables and Bbqs. There are lots of trees so it is nice and shady.
The information Centre is nearby as is a nice craft cottage with great homemade gifts. There is also the local historical society Hall of History which unfortunately wasn't open when we were there.
There is a lovely body of water adjoining the park where heaps of water birds can be observed and photographed. There is a path that goes around Fred Greensill Lake and then goes down to the river. Around the lake is the "For Valour" memorial walk which was designed by the Kilcoy RSL and informs the visitor of the local war veterans.

We thought that it was a large walking area but found that the paths just ran out. The Yowie was interesting but really uninspiring

An oasis on a hot day. Nice walk around a lily pond complete with turtles - I spotted one on a log! Saw a white heron catch it’s dinner in the pond. Shade seating areas for a picnic.

Yowie Park is a must when you visit Kilcoy. Our bus tour stopped there and the people had no trouble filling in the hour.Everything to do and see was in walking distance of the Information Centre. The craft cottage was the most popular with a wonderful array of homemade gifts and plants in the outdoor section. The Courthouse Art Gallery also popular especially since the opening of the wide back deck. looking down on Fred Greensill lake. The Valour Memorial Walk was very impressive. Each plaque telling the soldiers history was surrounded by rosemary bushes on three sides.
Took us 20 minutes to do the whole walk around the lake Plenty of tables in the shade for those who just want to relax.Don't forget to take a photo with the statue of the Yowie before you leave. Margaret
