Outstanding - well worth a visit
Aug. 2021
We had a 2 night stay booked for Hughenden and arrived in town mid afternoon so we called into the Information centre to checkout things to do.
We noticed the sign through to the Discovery Centre so on our return from Kronosaurus Korner next day we decided to pay the entry to go into the Discovery Centre.
Gee - are we glad we did.
Whist not huge the displays and information is certainly top quality.
The movie is top class and take you through how Australia developed over hundreds of millions of years.
The map of Australia showing the how Australia was once a series of smaller Islands separated by a huge inland sea is very enlightening.
I would highly recommend adding this to your 'to do' list.

Excellent

We went to the museum, not expecting a great deal. The centrepiece is a reconstructed skeleton of Muttaburrasaurus, named after the nearby hamlet of Muttaburra. The museum also had lots of rocks and small fossils on display, and a movie showing the geology and formation of Porcupine Gorge. An hour well spent for only $5 each.

This is a great little museum with a little bit of everything, I wish I had've been able to spend more time here. The staff at the Information centre are friendly and knowledgable.

The Discovery centre in Hughenden is well worth a visit. Good display of fossils and good information on the fossil and dinosaur life of the area. A couple of video presentations complement the written information. Only $5 for adults.

Worth a look
Jul. 2021 • Friends
Good selection of gem stones and fossils. The dinosaur replica is great! You can get up close and have a good look at the size of those bones! There's an interactive children's section, well set up. Some nice souvenirs in the shop and very obliging staff. Worth a look when in Hughenden.

Good value for what we paid
Jun. 2021 • Couples
We visited the Flinders Discovery Centre, which is also the Visitors Centre, and really enjoyed the display. The main feature is a replica of the Muttaburrasaurus. There is a range of other fossils including petrified wood.

The museum is not up to the level of Winton’s but then entry to this one is only $5. It was very good value for what we paid.

What was exceptional value was the advice and assistance given by the staff in the information centre. 10/10 for what they’re doing.

Recommend!

Great experience

This is also the home of the Tourist Info Centre. The Discovery centre is in the same building. Cost $5 for adults to get in. Not a hugh lot to see but there are a few dinosaur bones and fossils and of course the full skeletal replica of a Muttaburrasaurs.

Very informative- kids will love it
Jun. 2021 • Couples
Fantastic centre - walk in straight into a replica of the Muttabuttasauras skeleton. Sound and light show very well presented. See this then visit Porcupine Gorge (approx 60k away) and it all makes sense. Have a completely different view of Australian geology after this visit.
Also has a section on the role of sheep and shepherding - take time to read the wall panels!
