Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My first trip to this unique rock shop was about twelve years ago and I went with my family and teenage children. Taking another road trip down to Home Hill is like going back in time.
The owners are very helpful, gracious and welcoming. Two generations of rock specialists and lapidary continuing to share their experience and knowledge.
I love my rocks and crystals and have found some amazing pieces from Ashworths.
I would totally recommend this as a genuine North Queensland experience

Interested to see what was on display, we wandered around checking out the amazing range of things in many rows of wooden glass top display cabinets of the sort found in old department stores. Scored a lovely toe ring & fine sleepers at very reasonable price. Friendly owners.

Had the battery in my watch changed here for only $12. Browsed through the stock while waiting and it is really interesting. Had heard about this rock display at the Rock Club in Darwin, so it is well known in rock clubs around the country.

I love to browse and always buy Aussie gifts for friends when I travel. A friendly and efficient jeweler is available if you need a watch battery in a hurry and you can always find a gift with a difference if you take the time .

Was passing through on a recent road trip. The outside of the shop looks old and manky and i agree with other reviews that the inside is old too, but were not looking at the building, its whats in the shop that counts!! If you are a gem and rock lover like myself, you will be in gemstone, rock and fossil heaven! This place is GREAT! And such a large shop filled with so many rocks! Awesomeness!! Friendly staff! And gee wizz, really cheap, reasonable prices!!! Highly recommended!

The rocks exhibition is amazing, particularly the agates. Sourced from all over the world, and quite beautiful - well worth going for that alone. The retail side is very disappointing, goods displayed in old, poorly maintained cabinets, hard to see, poor lighting and not a very wide range. Also felt the sales staff could do with some training in customer service. However, having said all that, we managed to buy a number of things which we were pleased with and the lady who wrapped them took a lot of time and trouble to do so.

On a recent road trip we called into Ashworth's for a welcome break from driving for a short while.
The view of the building as we pulled into the car park was not promising. It looked old and well past its prime. This impression did not change as we entered the building. It's not pristine and not even particularly neat. But once we started looking around, our impressions rapidly began to change.
A fee of $4 is required to visit the large stone and crystal display at the end of the building. Very little money for an excellent display. The rest of the building contains a rambling selection of stones, polished stones and jewellery that kept us entertained for some time. The lady who served us didn't mind a chat at all and we had a great time with her and her husband. A surprising highlight was their large dog which was a character on its own. It is kept on a large leash while in the store, but if you drop in, ask to meet it. You'll enjoy the experience.
My wife, who collects crystals, was in heaven. There was a wide range of them, some she hadn't seen before. She bought heaps.

I remember this place as a kid. My eyes would sparkle in amazement at the rocks and crystals on display.
Maybe I've aged but so has the displays. It is still good but it no longer amazes me.
