What a beautiful way to spend a morning! The river was quiet and still, the mountains covered in mist, and the sun just coming through. It felt almost prehistoric out there.
Sauce is a fantastic tour guide with years and years of experience and was able to guide us directly to some birds nests and the best spots to see wildlife.
Unfortunately the morning we went, the wildlife made it hard for him to find everything, but he still did a wonderful job of finding what birds he could, and sharing stories and knowledge.
Sauce provided us with binoculars which were invaluable (thank you!).
Highlights included a big croc cruising down Barrett’s creek alongside the boat and a juvenile sea eagle attempting some fishing.
We’re not traditionally bird watchers, and we still very much appreciated and enjoyed the tour and time on the river.

The last day of FNQ birding / wildlife trip delivered in spades for my son & I helped by the experienced and enthusiastic Alex. We were hopeful for a number of birds for our lists, better views and importantly learning more about their behaviour / character. Alex was brilliant in searching out the birds and investigating the goings on on the river - including a ruckus caused by Black butcher birds hassling a an Amethystine python. The trip was well paced with time to get onto the birds and get better views. The boat was very comfortable and had an adjustable roof which helped when it was lightly raining on our trip. Booking & communication was a breeze which helped with our tight itinerary - will definitely book again when back to this beautiful part of the world.

We went out twice with 'Sauce' (derived from his family name Worcester). What a great guy, friendly, witty and full of knowledge about the Daintree and its inhabitants.

We would definitely recommend doing one of their cruises. Its currently $60 for adults (about half for children) but it lasts two hours and although bird numbers are down recently, we saw so many birds, some of which are pretty rare (so much so, people come from around the world to see them), and for us, they were lifers. Oh, and let's not forget the crocs!

Overall, 5 stars plus and great value. Thanks Sauce!

Stunning early morning trip - beautiful, peaceful and highly productive - great-billed heron, Pheasant Coucal, Mistletoebird, various Kingfishers, White-bellied Sea-Eagle, Scrub Python and many more. He even found us a Wompoo Fruit Dove on request!

Alex our guide was so kind and quietly knowledgeable on every topic, not just the birds but also the trees, orchids, other plants and our questions like birds’ use of structural colour and iridescence vs pigments.

The custom-made boat is a delight - silent electric drive, individual swivel seats, perfect view all round.

Can’t recommend too highly. Definitely the highlight for us.

Absolutely loved this cruise. A highlight of our Daintree stay. Guide was extremely knowledgeable and took an interest in what we wanted to see. The boat only takes 8 or 10 people so it's a much more personal experience than the bigger boats. You also get your own set of binoculars which makes it much easier to see and look at the wildlife. Couldn't recommend this enough....

A fabulous morning cruise with Alex, perfectly timed with the dropping tide to see numerous crocs, from a 60 cm '2022 model' up to a 5m monster - 'Captain Hook'. For me, the birds were possibly even more exciting, especially the three baza and the great-billed heron, along with about 20 other species. Alex is knowledgeable and easy-going, and pitched the information perfectly. Highly recommended.

Excellent tour, even though we visited during a time of heavy rain. We came dressed for the conditions and our guide John had ponchos on hand, which came in handy.

We enjoyed seeing a number of wildlife, including numerous azure kingfisher, cattle egrets, and other birds and a crocodile. Apparently during times of heavy rain you don’t see as many crocodiles, but we got a wealth of other learnings about the flora and fauna of Daintree that was fascinating, and John was a great storyteller about what we were seeing. I got the impression that other tours of the river were very crocodile centric, whereas we wanted to learn about this ecosystem and weren’t just there for the crocodiles. If that’s your preference too this is a tour for you!

We took our two children on the sunset trip and it was our favourite part of our holiday in Cairns. Ian has a wonderful knowledge of the wildlife and in particular the birds. It was the most relaxing two hours. We slowly made our way along the river and saw so many species of birds flying and nesting. It was very peaceful and there were only four other people on the boat. On the way back we spotted a massive male croc who slowly swam along on the other side of the river. Incredible experience. Ian is so knowledgeable, warm and friendly. We would definitely recommend this experience. Thank you Ian.

Loved this cruise. We chose this because of the smaller boat (everyone on board was next to the side of the boat) and also because we wanted to see more than crocodiles! It wasn’t great lighting for photography, being overcast, but we still saw a fair bit (with the assistance of the guide - I’d have missed most of it otherwise).

We were the only ones on this sunset tour which was superb. Stunning scenery and Alex knew where to find the wildlife. My husband is a bird watcher and we saw many different species, had plenty of time for photos, saw a small croc, and the head of a massive one! Highly recommend this trip.
