About
Daintree Boatman Wildlife Cruises provides small-group wildlife cruises for close views of highly sought-after birds, snakes and crocodiles on the mighty Daintree River. Cruises have a maximum of 10 passengers and have a minimum age of 6. Two hour cruises ($72 adult, $50 child) are provided at dawn and dusk whilst birds are at their most active and the river is at its most scenic. Cruises are customised to the interests of the passengers. The boat used is a unique 'hybrid' vessel utilising both a regular outboard and an incredible electric motor which creates less disturbance of wildlife enabling extraordinary views of wildlife. Private cruises at reasonable rates are available for those with a specific interest such as wildlife photography. Cruises depart from the Daintree Village public boat ramp, 45 mins from Port Douglas. NOTE: Cruises are holistic rather than being crocodile specific. Likelihood of seeing crocodiles is seasonal: easy in winter, difficult in summer.

So l, two couples, at least four agendas - birds, snakes, crocodiles, photography. Murray delivered on all counts and more. He manages the boat so well that he glides up close enough to see and photograph the critters without disturbing them. Great bird spotter. He went out of his way (and extended the tour) to make sure we saw as much as possible. The river itself is gorgeous and Murray has a wealth of knowledge he generously shares and a good sense of humor to go with it. Great value for money and would definitely go again.

Murray is very passionate about what he does, he is keen to please all of his clients and goes out of his way to find something that you particularly have come to see, no matter how rare it may be.
This is not a zoo there is no guarantee of seeing everything that lives in the area, but be assured that Murray knows the area like the back of his hand, he knows where everything hangs out so he can usually find it. I did both an afternoon and a morning trip, they were both completely different. If you are coming to the Daintree area, you must do this tour with Murray

Murray did not have room for the four of us on his Dawn cruise but was happy to offer us a one and a half hour private morning cruise. We really enjoyed hearing about and seeing the Daintree River wildlife. Murray was very knowledgeable and it was great being being able to ask plenty of questions and pause as long as we wanted for photos.

My husband and I absolutely loved this tour presented by the very knowledgeable Murray! Murray’s boat is slightly smaller and quieter than some of the other providers which means he’s able to get closer to the wildlife and create a more tailored experience for all guests. We were able to see so many wonderful animals from the Little Kingfisher to a 4m croc and everything in between. Murray provided excellent detail and information for everything we saw. We also had the most magical weather and the sunset was breathtaking with so many vibrant colours reflecting off the water.

This was a definite highlight of our visit to the Daintree. We booked the dawn cruise and Murray was fabulous with his explanations and finding the animals. We saw crocodiles, all 4 of the local kingfisher species, great billed heron, frog mouth and tree snakes. We then decided to come back the next day and do the twilight cruise. More crocs, including the big 4 metre male, beautiful birds and an amazing Daintree sunset. Highly recommend this tour if you’re in this amazing part of the world.

Murray was a lovely individual and he took us on a tour at around midday because we couldn’t make it for the morning or afternoon cruise. He was very insightful and we loved the experience. The boat fit our group of friends perfectly and we loved the intimate experience. We saw a crocodile as well as some tawny frogmouth! Thanks so much Murray for this great experience we will be back!

Great morning tour with Murray! We saw a total of 5 crocs and many other birds and wildlife. Murray was passionate and informative about the Daintree and wildlife and knew exactly where you could find crocodiles, snakes and birds. Not only was the tour about sightseeing, but we also learnt a lot about the ecosystem and facts about the wildlife. I would definitely recommend this tour for families, everyone will find it entertaining.

Thank you very much for leaving a lovely review. We timed this cruise well with the delayed departure to ensure good sightings of crocodile. Thank you for visiting.

We had a great experience on our morning Daintree River Cruise. Murray was helpful right from the beginning of our booking, suggesting what time would be best to see our preferred birds etc. The boat was small (6 people), quiet and a perfect way to truly explore the river and creeks.

As the weather wasn’t on our side for some of the tour, Murray went out of his way to allow us to stop for a short breakfast/coffee break whilst the rain cleared before resuming the tour.

Murray was a clear, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and precise guide. His excellent knowledge of the river meant we saw things we would never have seen on our own (Papuan Frogmouth, Tree snake, Fig Parrot). We had excellent views of a great billed heron next to a small croc! The tour was brilliantly catered to the guests wants - a great trip for wildlife and birdwatching.

Overall it was a great experience that we would definitely do again and highly recommended.

Thank you. I remember this cruise well - taking the unusual step of having an intermission halfway through the cruise to allow weather to improve. I pleased it all worked well in the end!

We were running late but Murray did wait for us which we totally appreciated. Once onboard, Murray’s knowledge about the wildlife and the habitat along the Daintry was absolutely amazing. Spotting a crocodile is never guaranteed, we did manage to spot 1 and Murray did spend a little longer on the river to try his luck at seeing more. Very relaxing journey up and down the river.

Thank you for your review. Summer is a hard time of the year to find reptiles so I'm pleased we were able to find a crocodile for you. Cheers.
